Breaking Bad -- The Complete Series -- 11/26/13

Some information about it from this EW.com article

http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/07/26/br...f-documentary/

There will be a two-hour retrospective Breaking Bad documentary that will be included in the Blu-Ray/DVD complete box set. The doc will tell the history of the show using behind-the-scenes footage shot over the course of the show, including interview footage from the pilot. Cameras followed the cast and producers even more intensely through the production of the final 16 episodes. There will be a segment that features Cranston and co-star Aaron Paul reading the series finale script for the first time.
No release date yet. Most likely sometime in 2014.

2 Hour Documentary on the making of the series.

Having to double dip on seasons 1-4 (did not buy season 5 part 1)

I have seasons 1-3 on DVD and 4 on BD. Guess I will have to trade them in to Amazon when the complete series comes out.

I know Mike86 was the probably one of the only ones who bought season 5 Part 1. Did anyone else buy it? Or are you guys just going to buy a "Complete" season 5 at a discount and call it a day?

re: Breaking Bad -- The Complete Series -- 11/26/13

I don't believe in buying broken up seasons since if the show is large enough, it's inevitable a double dip is down the road. I had bought seasons 1-4 on BD last Fall at Best Buy during that huge sale the week before Thanksgiving but gave them as presents in anticipation of a complete series set.

Hopefully the discs won't be stacked like Sony's practice when they began releasing Complete Series sets on DVD, or it won't be any sort of funky packaging (or if it is, they offer an alternative standard box).

Can't wait for it.

Never bought the seasons. In at a decent price.

I bought 5.1. Don't regret it for a second. Depending on price I may get it for mom for present.

I bought 5.1 also. Could not wait. I'll just buy the complete set down the road sometime once it drops in price.

I'd love to watch that documentary, but don't want to shell out the dough for a complete series set. I haven't bought 5.1, but do have seasons 1-4 which I'm perfectly happy with.

Such bullshit when companies pull this exclusive to complete series set crap. Nice way to screw over the people who have bought the sets all along. I have all five Blu-ray sets out so far so I can't see myself double dipping.

For me I didn't watch seasons 1-4 live, so I bought them for the purpose of catching up. I managed to catch up to watching season 5A live on AMC.

I believe Sony did the same thing with The Shield. They put an exclusive feature length documentary in the complete series set.

I sold off my DVDs of Seasons 1-4 last year knowing this was inevitable. I wanted to update to blu anyway, so while the wait is tough, I, like most Breaking Bad fans, have learned the art of patience when it comes to the show!

I've already got S1-4 on BD. Just give me a complete S5 and I'm happy. I'm not re-buying the entire series for a documentary.

Same here. I don't have 5.1 yet (may be getting it as a belated birthday gift), but the current sets are pretty packed as is, and chances are someone will eventually upload the documentary to Youtube.

Can't see any reason to get rid of the existing discs and wait for this.

I also picked up seasons 1 - 4 for around $26. So I don't mind waiting a little bit to get season 5 for a good price to finish off the series.

Inevitable! I sold off 1-4 and just bit-torrented 5.1 in anticipation of this. I'm hoping for a sweeeet lightning round deal during Black Friday weekend a la Bond last year.

Do you think they will put season 5 on Netflix right after the series ends or will there be a wait?
I ask because I am up to season 4 on Blu-Ray but can't bring myself to buy 5.1 since it the cost is so high compared to what I paid for the rest (got them SUPER cheap during that BB sale).

Just a guess, but most likely season 5 will be posted on Netflix after season 5B is released on DVD/BD next year.

And this is what I was waiting for. I was lucky and borrowed a friend's copies to catch up on the series. I no longer buy seasons of shows as they come out in anticipation of the complete series being eventually released. I am patient and can wait. I have no idea when Boardwalk Empire may end but I won't buy a season of it until the series is done and they release it in a complete set.

It was revealed tonight on Talking Bad the set is coming out November 26th.

I'm guessing that means the 5B set is coming around that time.

I wouldn't have a problem with complete series sets if the studios at least had the courtesy of giving the fans who have been buying the sets all along and supporting shows the option of somehow getting the bonus content that's in these complete sets. Make the bonus disc available as a mail away option or something with a set for a certain amount extra. I normally don't care about gimmick packaging or whatever. I just think it's dumb that we should have to wait when we basically get told to support things or risk them not releasing them.

You're heading into Catch 22 territory. You can't have it both ways & expect to be rewarded both times.

As a few have mentioned here, some fans who purchase physical media like BD's don't buy individual seasons and wait until a complete series set with everything bunched together is released. Yes, 9 times out of 10, a complete series set ends up being more expensive than the individual seasons, but for those who have the patience and are willing to invest the extra money, Sony is rewarding them with the 2+ hour Breaking Bad documentary.

If you watch Breaking Bad live week to week on AMC or download it on Amazon or ITunes, chances are you aren't going to want to spend the premium money when it's initially released on physical media. Unless they are buying it strictly to catch up, most here wait until major discounts.

So I understand with seasons 1-4 being available $15-20 each, buying a complete series set for $150-200 is not very appealing.

re: Breaking Bad -- The Complete Series -- 11/26/13

Not really though because I'm willing to bet that studios know it's the fans who buy and support releases that are going to want the documentary, especially on a show like this that has a very loyal fan base. I'm sure some wait for sales but I'm guessing they sell quite a bit on actual release too and probably hope they'll get a double dip with gimmick packaging and "never before seen extras exclusive to the set", it's marketing bullshit. I understand they're in business to make money but doing so by essentially shitting on people who buy the stuff all along is lame. I don't get the logic that because I didn't wait I shouldn't be allowed access to the documentary even though I bought the other five sets. I don't see how it would be so bad to offer a bonus disc if it was offered for a certain price and maybe you had to send proof of purchase of some type for the other sets.

I stopped buying season sets all together for 2 reasons. 1. The sets are released so quickly after a season ends, I wont re-watch it that soon anyway. 2. Full series always have more extras, better packaging and by the time it is released, I am ready for a re-watch.
