I'm definetly in for Slap Shot. I loved Weird Science as a kid, and probably watched it a zillion times on HBO in the 80's, but it is one of the few John Hughes movies that did not age well. Although Chet is still one of the greatest characters from that era!

Weird Science for me. I saw it a couple of years ago (saw it a dozen times in the 80's too) and it has aged just fine. It is still a very fun (and a little saucy) movie.

I need to re-see Slap Shot, its been years and at the right price I might be interested. I've never seen High Plains Drifter, so I can't say one way or the other.

Slap Shot and only Slap Shot.

Weird Science, vastly overrated. Also, has aged terribly since modern generation computer losers will soon be able to 3D print out plastic vagoos.

Picked up Slapshot and Weird Science at Target last week and watched over the weekend. Fully enjoyed both of them especially Slapshot.

Can anyone comment on the quality of the Weird Science blu ray? I heard the transfer sucked. Anyone?

Also wondering if Weird Science has the dialogue restored that was missing from the last DVD. They should also have included the original matrixed sound track.

It's a horrible film transfer, one of the worst served up by Universal.

Thank you! I know now to avoid this one. It was too good to be true. I assume they will re-release it some day...hopefully with a better transfer. Thanks again.

And when this doesn't sell, they'll just say nobody wants catalog titles...

I can't think of one catalog title Universal has remastered for BD after a lackluster transfer. I wouldn't count on it.

The iTunes version (which comes free with the Blu-ray) looks better, which is the best you'll probably get.

You're entirely correct, slow-selling catalog titles aren't getting multiple remasters on Blu-ray- from Universal or anyone else. This BD will be the only HD transfer for Weird Science on a disc format for the next 10 years.

It's not recent, but the Dune Blu-ray has a vastly better transfer than the terrible DVD. That's the rare exception for Universal, of course.

And I'll still have to get Weird Science on Blu-ray.

Which cut of Dune is included on the Blu-ray?
