I thought this was one of the best ones. Shame they traded Shazam for Aquaman but he was a good fit. Superman's arrogance was very 52.

I just watched it. Its shallow, but its far less shallow than the comic storyarc its based upon. I liked the movie far more than the comic. I also liked Darkseid's voice actor. It actually sounded alien, which while I like Michael Ironside's voice acting from the DCAU, it never sounded alien or how I imagined Darkseid to sound.

Just watched it and I thought it was mostly pretty good. I didn't really care for a lot of the voice actors in it though. I'm biased because I love Kevin Conroy's Batman but I really don't care for Jason O'Mara's take on the voice and he's not only in this but is going to be in the upcoming Son of Batman. I personally like either Roger Craig Smith (voice of Batman in the video game Arkham Origins) or Bruce Greenwood (voice of Batman in Batman: Under the Red Hood and in Young Justice) as better alternatives if Conroy isn't being used. I hadn't read the story this was based off of but not a bad way of getting the Justice League together for the New 52 I suppose. Cyborg's origin seemed darker than I expected it to be but I guess the film is rated PG13.

This movie turned out better than the comic book it was based on. The comic arc was mostly an excuse to show off Jim Lee's new designs for the Justice League. The movie felt really well paced, even the dialogue worked better. Shazam made for a nice addition to the group.
However, the voice acting for Wonder Woman was embarrassing in a couple of scenes.

I thought the voice work for Green Lantern, Superman and Shazam didn't work at all. Billy, Cyborg and Darkseid were spot-on.
Also, Lantern's character was really dumbed down. If they were trying to make him taking leadership of the team as a turning point for his character, they really over-did the pre-mature version of him.
Despite that, it was entertaining. I'd have to re-read the JL arc it's based on but I do believe I enjoyed the movie more than the comic. My teenaged son loved it (and Flashpoint Paradox) so DC/Warner is marketing in the right direction. He started asking me all kinds of questions about the New52.

Yeah I agree Hal was pretty annoying in this actually. It seemed like the film wanted the viewers to like him by making him a bit of comic relief but he just came off like an idiot. No wonder Batman was kind of a dick to him the whole film.

Loved the movie, one of the top 5 movies from DC Animation.
Great battle at the end.
-Only thing I did not like was Hal Jordon's character, almost a little to silly.

Hal is supposed to be kind of arrogant and cocksure in everything he does. Johns added some mindless fratboy to his characterization. As long as they keep Barry a nice guy, I don't mind Hal's current personality.
I thought some of the stuff with Wonder Woman was odd and poorly written. They need to explain away her revealing swimsuit costume as completely standard and ordinary in her Amazonian world. Then that gives DC a pass on all of the other female costumes, as you can say the other heroines were following Wonder Woman's lead.

just watched it. I've liked some of the other recent DC animated stuff more but still liked this for the most part.
I laughed during the president's speech when he said "superfriends" since I sort of remember that cartoon from when I was a little kid

Kind of dull, which isn't hugely surprising given how disappointingly pedestrian the comic arc upon which this is based felt. And I know I say this every DCU movie so I hate to sound like a broken record, but God, I miss Kevin Conroy. Wonder Woman kind of came across as a moron, and I don't know why they replaced Aquaman with Shazam. Well, obviously because they thought Aquaman was lame, but still. Very little character development on anyone besides Cyborg. God, I miss Bruce Timm. So much. Most of the rather far-fetched plot beats from the comic remain here too. Some nice animation, but mostly felt kind of like a placeholder. OK, but I certainly wouldn't want to spend much time with this team as regulars.

Re: Justice League: War - TBD
My biggest complaint is the continued depowering of Superman. You would barely know he's the most powerful member of the Justice League from this movie. Most children watching this for the first time won't be impressed by him at all. Adults tend to forget that children haven't seen decades' worth of Superman stories where he is unbeatable.
DC really needs to take a long, hard look at how they handle his character. Breaking up the marriage was probably the right thing to do, writers were simply stuck in a rut with that story element. They really need to re-assess his place in the DC firmament if they want him to remain a popular character.

I thought one of the things which actually made the Bruce Timm series interesting was that they depowered him so much that it seemed like he was actually more interesting. The problem is writing him well. And Darkseid was utterly dull in this.

I liked Timm's series but his Superman was as weak as we've regularly seen him since the 1950's television show. A whole generation of kids think Superman isn't that powerful, when he should really be much stronger than the rest of the Justice League. I don't think the character works nearly as well when he's not the most powerful person on the planet.
