Re: Halloween 35th Anniversary BD
Bestbuy.com and Amazon.com are now selling this for $19.99.
Someone on blu-ray.com spotted a $19.96 shelf tag at Walmart last night as well, so it looks like they'll have it.

Is that Region Free or not? I'd love to know for sure before I decide which version to get. But I'm tempted to pick up the U.S. release once I find it in stores, but I greatly prefer the original poster artwork on the U.K. release.

I grabbed this yesterday and I will say, as someone who disliked the artwork as seen online, it does look better in person. It looks like a painting.

The digibook, on the other hand, is terrible. It doesn't have the plastic "plate" to hold the disc, it's just a paper sleeve glued to the back cover of the digibook. I thought the package looked awful thin when I picked it up at the store but didn't realize why until I opened it.
Oh well, I'm looking forward to revisiting the film in October.

Indeed. Additionally, when I put it on my shelf next to my other digibooks I found that its dimensions are slightly larger that the others. It sticks out about 1/8 of an inch further than the others.
First world problems, I know, but it's still disappointing. It's the movie that counts though, right?

Re: Halloween 35th Anniversary BD
It seems like they could have just used a standard case with an embossed slipcover similar to the digibook cover and everything else inside could have just been a pamphlet or insert. Using a digibook doesn't really add anything of value to the product.

If you want this cheaper, you might try FYE. Their are supposed to be selling it for $16.99. The title may have a $24.99 sale price, but it rings up $16.99.

Re: Halloween 35th Anniversary BD
They had one copy of the release left, and it was hiding in the DVD section with the other Halloween films. The Blu-ray section only had the prior release, and the Rob Zombie films. So I was glad I found a copy, and it was in mint condition unlike the copies at Wal-mart where the spider-wrap dug into the side of the case and it was bent and cramped into the shelf.
It did ring up at $16.99 despite being listed as $24.99 on sale. This even surprised the clerk, since I asked him just to scan it and see what it totals with tax, since I want to make sure I have enough money for it or not. And sure enough, $16.99 was the price, and I said "It's a deal, that's the best price around, cool" and was very happy to score it at that price.
I want to watch the movie immediately, but then realized October is only a couple days a way. So I'll try to hold out.
I've been following the controversy on the blu-ray.com forum, and have gotten a headache from it. Since it just goes on and on and on and is insane. So I've backed away and won't waste my time reading the entire thread. But I am confused and curious about the mono soundtrack 'controversy'. Some claim it's a downmix of the 7.1 track, others claim it's not, and some claims it's the 'original' mix or a 'remix'. I'm not sure which track I'll view the film with, though I usually always aim for the original mix be it mono or stereo/5.1+.

I think the cover's alright but 2007 blu cover is better.
The new cover just reminds me too much of the Scarface DVD cover.
