Pit and the Pendulum and Castle Freak - 4/30

Apparently Full Moon's Pit and the Pendulum and Castle Freak are being released next week (4/30). Both are remastered and if they're anything like the other restorations, they should both look good. I was always a fan of Pit and the Pendulum.

I still have some store credit to burn off, so this should do it but I'm still going to wait for a sale.

The UK BD of Castle Freak will have The Evil Clergyman in HD as a bonus feature, so I'll just pick up that one instead.

Are you talking about the 1991 version? Certainly not the 1961 Corman version? If it's the 1991, I would love to see MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH (1989 version) also!

Yes.

I'm also not ashamed to admit that as a teen, I enjoyed the nudity of the leading actress.

Nearly blank pages for these popped up at amazon for $13.97 each. I pre-ordered them but now they aren't available. Hopefully it won't be one of those things where they make a new product page with a higher price, like I've seen a few other movies do on pre-orders.

Ominous... I sure hope they haven't been cancelled.

Full Moon announced it in a recent email. The release dates at amazon were about a week early, which may explain part of that issue.

I ended up getting my copies randomly over the last couple weeks. I watched Castle Freak and it wasn't restored like Puppet Master and Subspecies. At some point I want to pull out my DVD just to compare.

If they get around to selling it outside of the box set, which I already own, I'll pick it up with the evergreen card I still need to use.

Re: Pit and the Pendulum and Castle Freak - 4/30

Castle Freak went from being a fullscreen DVD to a widescreen blu-ray with a blue tint put on, similar to the NOTLD 90 release.

Pit and the Pendulum looks pretty bad, or at least on the blu-ray release it looks how it should on DVD, but I still need to check my DVD to compare. I've heard the DVD really looks awful, like a really washed out and abused VHS copy but I'd rather see it with my own eyes first.

At least PENDULUM hasn't been tinted blue... Or has it? Could you please check your blu-ray to be sure? I'll take original color palette and DVD quality over fake blue tint and Blu-ray quality ANY day.
