No shit. What a disappointment. I was holding out hope that there was a decent movie somewhere in that mess but I guess all that's underneath that pile of shit is more shit.

I liked Olympus has Fallen. At least that captured more of the magic of this genre.

I just finished watching The Last Stand. It feels like a modern day Western but it also brought to mind the original Die Hard in that the main character, though relentless, is outmatched and actually has to recover from injury. Just look at the scene where Instead of having him quickly get up and dust himself off, the film cuts away to sever other events before it goes back to Arnold who's still in pain and trying to get to his feet. He's mortal in much the same way that John McClain should be mortal.

So the extended cut doesn't even feature the Yuliya Snigir footage that was in the trailer but cut from the movie?

Fail.

That was the first thing I thought would be in it.

Damn. This marginally extended cut is sounding worse and worse. This may be worse than the extended cut of Max Payne.

I suspect that Winstead finally saw the movie, and then made her agent demand that all footage involving her be cut immediately.

For anyone here who really, really wants this. It will be $13 at Target June 9th.

$13 is still too much for this turd. I'll pick it up for $5 at one of the upgrade and save sales.

Why would you buy a movie you don't like for any price?

$13 for the Blu-Ray or just the DVD? I see it'll be $19 next week, but if it's going to be $13 after that I'll certainly wait. Haven't seen the movie yet so can't comment on its merits, but I've got all the others so have to be a completist, and even $19 is nothing compared to the $49 each the first 3 cost on laserdisc!

I'm a completist as well, but this goes in the Smokey and the Bandit Part III category... The only reason I would own it was if I was forced to buy it, because a good sequel was not available any other way. (Universal only released Smokey and the Bandit Part II in the triple pack on DVD...)

So are both cuts of the film on the BD or just the extended? I'd hate to be stuck with the MEW-less version.

I agree with your statement. It's a decent and way over the top action movie, but a bad Die Hard movie. That was the most frustrating aspect of it.

The biggest problem with it, aside from the terrible script and completely nonsensical and amateurish direction, is Bruce Willis completely phoning in his performance. I can't remember the last time I saw an actor sleepwalk through a movie more than Willis does here. It makes it all the more terrible knowing it's a Die Hard movie, something I hoped Willis had more appreciation for considering the series made his career.

If Willis obviously doesn't care about this movie why should we?

Well who can blame him? He was basically a secondary character in his own movie.

I didn't completely hate this but it could have been way better. My biggest gripe with it was that it seemed like it was focusing more on the son (Jack) than John. John just seemed like he was tagging along for the ride. I'll still get it at some point but when it's like $10 or under.

Next week. It'll be $13, but there's a $3 off coupon for that movie only that Target texts you that is valid through 6/14.
