Not exactly the same but pretty darn close.

I'm okay with it.

Re: The Shadow - 6/4/13

I've heard rumors that the Shout! Factory company is working on a special edition for later this year; can anyone confirm this?

Re: The Shadow - 6/4/13

Over on Blu-ray.com forums, a special edition has been "confirmed" for later this year; news from a Shout Factory insider, no details yet but they are trying to create new content. No official announcement from Shout that I can find, but a lot of posters over there are cancelling their pre-orders for Universal's release.

I'm willing to wait for a special edition. I've been waiting for over a decade, what's a few more months? If it never materializes, the bare-bones release will still be there.

I'll keep my pre-order. If the special edition pans out (and has a better transfer), I'll simply give the bare bones edition away.

Re: The Shadow - 6/4/13

I'd like to have a full audio commentary with Russell Mulcahy, and maybe even one with Alec, Penelope, and John Lone. It'd also be cool if they could reconstruct the original ending with computer graphics, because I love the idea of Khan projecting Lamont's past crimes onto the mirrors. Hopefully, there's enough deleted footage to make that possible.

I expected more than that.

Is this still definitely remastered?

Not sure, the press release doesn't say anything about it. Guess we'll find out when reviewers get screeners.
