What do you despise more: 3D or Steelbooks/Slipcovers?
Is it just me or do the 3D haters seem to hate 3D with a passion?, and then there are your Steelbook and Slipcover collecting niche. Far more less pratical (for me anyways) and the market for them could be far out more outrageous in terms of the dough they can fetch and just appears less frown upon than 3D.

I don't really hate either, I do however think that slipcover collectors are a bit silly at times. Particularly people who act like it's a deal breaker if they know a slipcover exists for a certain release and either track down a copy with it included or pay extra for the slipcover alone . To me it's just a stupid piece of cardboard and not really worth collecting especially since in a lot of cases the same art is on the regular cover but whatever.

I'm not a fan of either, but I don't begrudge anyone who is.

I've been very happy with 3D on Blu-ray, so I selected Steelbooks/Slipcovers. I actually understand why people collect Steelbooks (I have a collection of Digibooks), but the slipcover thing is kinda weird.

3D isn't going anywhere. In the next two or three years it'll be standard on every HDTV and Blu-ray player, and for several years of films it's as legitimate component of the film's presentation. Watching something like Hugo flat is akin to watching a colorized or pan & scan film. It's a compromised presentation. 3D could tank tomorrow (and its not going to) and you aren't going to retroactively invalidate its existence on the large number of films that were designed for its use over the course of several years.
Movies have different aspect ratios and sound formats and now you can add 3D into the mix. That's reality, and if you stubbornly refuse to accept that because you bought an HDTV without 3D you're no different than the people who only wanted DVDs that filled up their 4x3 sets.

I love SteelBooks and DigiBooks. I am indifferent to slipcovers, but keep them on if a title comes with it. BTW - If anyone has an extra/unwanted slipcover for Moon, please PM me.

If studios stopped producing slipcovers, blu-ray.com would be shut down instantly. I do like digibooks since you do get some added content, and particularly for certain special releases. The Jaws digibook is excellent. I also like steelbooks, but not as much as digibooks. And I do wish WB would print the actual specs on the back of their books the way Universal does.
I don't have 3D yet, but I've bought several 3D combo packs. I'm a fan and will eventually upgrade to a 3D set.

Has to be 3D. But you can't hate slipcovers, steelbooks, or digibooks. It's more hating the overboard fans of them that people hate. Me ? I can take them or leave them. The only movies I care about getting the slipcovers for are the classic Disney movies. Aside from that, if I know that a Disney movie has a steelbook that's available in the US, I'll try to get it. I did get the steelbook for E.T., though. Just looks cool. I would have been just as satisfied if the movie had a normal case or a digibook.

I can see collecting digibooks and steelbooks to an extent since those a lot of times are more limited editions. Not to mention in the case of digibooks or steelbooks they take the place of a regular case so they're serving a purpose. Slipcovers on the other hand I don't really get the appeal of. Like I said before a lot of the time they tend to be the same artwork that's on the regular Blu-ray case and just seem kind of pointless and a waste of resources. The only time I ever keep them is if they have a different cover the rest go straight to the trash for me.

I don't care for either, but I don't despise either of them. I guess I'd go more out of my way to avoid 3D than a slipcover. And while I don't go out of my way to collect them, I rather like steelbooks.

Weak poll options. I love 3D and I love Steelbooks. I don't begrudge anyone what they like to collect - I am indifferent to slipcovers myself though.
