I liked it a lot. I think in the technical sense this film was superior than Regeneration. Though Regeneration got to the meat quicker and the locations were more visual and played well for the film. Also the story is well...really weak and cliche at times.I think Regeneration is better but I admire what they did here as well. I hear that this will be the unrated cut. So that'll be neat.

As I said in the Movie Talk thread, the best release is the German release. It's the uncut version of the movie (the American BD only has the R-rated cut) and has the 3D version as well.

I had no idea this was in 3D. Saw it on HDMovies, but I didn't like it anywhere to the point of buying this.

One of the posters in this thread specified to only order this version because the regular retail versions are all censored.

The only difference I know the director singled out in an interview was Supposedly there are other graphic bits sprinkled throughout the movie but that's the only one I know of specifically.

I found this comparison of the cut and uncut versions. It's NSFW. I don't understand why they didn't bother releasing both versions here?

Hyams posted on his FB today that he's heard that the Australian Blu-ray is Unrated, too. He has not verified that, though.

He also mentions that when the digital versions of the film are released (iTunes, PSN, etc.) they will be Unrated.

I also thought the Canadian version was also the uncut version.

Amazon has the Canadian version at 114 minutes and the US version at 113 minutes. Looks like I'm buying Canadian...

Careful, this may be one of those shitty German conversion jobs that I hear people complain a lot about. Check Amazon's German site for other examples.

I couldn't agree more. Which is a shame because I was really hyped for it until I saw it on HDnet Movies.

The color timing is very different in the final shot of the NC-17 cut. Both cuts seem to have that dried vomit look from beginning to end but that final shot seems more natural in the NC-17 cut. I wonder why that change or if it was simply an oversight when the NC-17 cut was transferred.

Someone on the Day of Reckoning facebook page confirms that the Canadian version is unrated.

I seriously doubt that would help it. This is just a bad direct to video release that actually feels every bit of the moniker. Sad to say to, as Roc said above, it had the makings of a decent movie and Regeneration was more than decent, but this was so bland. What little we see of Jean-Claude and Dolph is all amateurish and caracitures of more sadistic, ruthless unstoppable soldiers. Just not well made all around. Maybe expectations were too high, but so what, this just failed on many levels. Oh well. Maybe some will find something to like in its gratuitous violence and bad acting, especially by Adkins.
