Longer Blu-ray/DVD Release Dates?
Anyone else notice that the length of time for a film to arrive on disc has steadily increased recently?
For instance "Dark Knight Rises" took just over four months, "Ted" took five months, Dark Shadows was 4 1/2 months etc.
It seemed over the last 4 or 5 years almost every film used to come out after only three months.
Are the studios finally realizing a faster DVD release date could have some connection with lower box office numbers?
Now that home video sales numbers are dwindling, are box office returns now more important than video?
I remember back in the 1980s a movie such as Top Gun came out in theatres in May of 1986 and didn't arrive on video until March 1987.
Are we going to see more releases get pushed back a little further?
