Star Trek Original HD format?

Wanna grab the original ST blu ray set for my dad but he HATES any redone show that has " black bars" on the screen.

Anyone familiar with this Star Trek set?

Re: Star Trek Original HD format?

I researched this set when buying from the Cyber Monday sale and it should be left-right bars on the Star Trek Blu-ray set with the episode in 4:3 format.

The original series was 4:3, and the blu retains the same aspect ratio - meaning it'll have black bars on the sides. So if your dad has an old school tube TV, then he should be fine. If he has a high def TV, then he'll hate the set.

If he has an old school tube TV, he'll likely have black bars on all four sides of the screen.

Re: Star Trek Original HD format?

Unfortunately I got rid of my Beta tapes a few years ago. They looked pretty damn good on my "big screen" 25" TV. That damn Star Trek TOS. I went from the Beta, to VHS, to those 2 episode sets to BR season sets. The only thing I didn't invest in was the LD's
