The first movie was a very solid action thriller, especially if you had seen the prior seasons on television. What happened on the second movie is that Fox cut the budget down and we only got the movie equivalent of a standalone, monster-of-the-week episode. That disappointed me, even if the story wasn't that bad.

The first movie actually involves one of my infrequent celebrity sightings - I was seeing it at the Ziegfeld in NYC and Tarantino was sitting a few rows up. Pretty empty theater too. Hard to miss that chin LOL.

I was thinking Jack Black had already appeared in Mars Attacks when he was on X-Files but I checked and the X-Files appearance was a year before.
