I just purchased the Bond 50 blu-ray set, and although I'm happy with the movies, I have a serious issue with the packaging - how can I fit this thing on my movie shelf? The package is too long to place spine-out, and it's too shallow and "tippy" when placed front-side out.

Since I don't like sliding my discs in and out of cardboard sleeves anyway, I'm leaning towards placing all the films in slim cases or multi-disc cases. Anyone else have a creative solution to this problem?

Do you have any space on top of your shelving ? I have several massive (well, large) sets like the lifesize Terminator 2 Endoskull, the van cased A Team complete series. I put these on top of the bookcase/shelving unit I have some of my dvds in. Same thing with the E.T. anniversary gift set from 2002.

I just use it as a kind of book end, it's a bit of a pain that it doesn't fit in with where I'd want it to be though.

I don't mind it... Looks great sitting on the top shelf of blu-rays. I'd much rather have this than 22+ individual cases.

This set reminds me of the POTA box set. Watched my first movie-You Only Live Twice -and the movie froze up twice. Been having trouble with basically all the POTA movies because of the stupid way the movies are stored. Looks like this will be a problem with the Bond set. Haven't read the other thread if they has been problems. I wish they would just send you the empty blu-ray cases so they can be stored that way

How would the way a disc is stored have anything to do with it playing correctly?

I assume he means the discs possibly getting scratches being stored the way they are.

There are standard disk covers that can be printed available for free or a minimal fee to download and cases are not that expensive to order online (pack of 50 for $30). It can be handy to have a few onhand anyway.

I was going to go with the 5 to 6 disk cases myself with slightly adjusted covers to handle the extra width, but in the end I went with 2 disk standard cases instead so i could store both the blu-ray and my DVD version from the ultimate collection. I decided it wasn't worth enough to sell the DVD versions. So even though it is 22 cases the space it occupies is not that much more once I removed all the ultimate DVD sets.

I think it much more likely that his playback problems are the fault of Fox's ever-changing encryption protocols. Practically every new Blu-ray that Fox releases requires a Blu-ray player firmware update to play.

I also mentioned POTA movies. They played fine the first time around and now it takes up to 10-15 minutes for them to load and play. Its gotta be the way they are stored because why would so many of them have problems.

Didn't have any problems with OHMSS . Who knows down the road if they play or not. Thats why I'm keeping the doubles.

I was having this issue with the POTA discs, too, and here's what fixed the problem for me.

Depending on what type of Blu Ray player you have, it may just be an issue with the player not having enough built-in memory in it. The fix for this is to buy flash drive (at least 2 to 4GB, which will cost you about $10 or less on average), and putting it in the USB connection in the back of your player. I first had this issue where Starship Troopers wouldn't even load, and this was the solution I found online to fix it that worked. Periodically, you will have to empty the drive out when it fills with information (go into settings, click on the drive, and delete info) - but it should solve your problem. I did for me, at least.

I ordered this set for $75 from Fox Connect. It took me a good 20 minutes to carefully remove all the discs from the slots. Almost every disc had one or two light scratches and/or fingerprints on them. I liked the design of the box, but wanted easier access to the films. Since I could hear the spine of the books cracking each time I opened them, I knew it was just a matter of time before the cardboard pages started coming unglued.

I'd never made any custom artwork before, but I went ahead and ordered some 6-disc cases online. I don't currently own a color printer, so I decided to do a silhouette design with each cover that wouldn't look too crappy in b&w. I'm happy with it. I still have the regular box on display with all my other odd shaped collector sets.

That's certainly more practical than the flimsy cardboard design. Some executive at Fox gets a bonus every time they can inflict a cardboard set on the public. They know consumers despise the design, it must be some kind of misguided green initiative to reduce plastic.

That's pretty nice. If I ever get the set I might fo something similar.

It looks like whoever designed the packaging for the latest Canadian release must have been inspired by my custom job.
