Re: Walt Disney Animated Classics 2013 Blu-ray releases

I love Meet the Robinsons (and Emperor's New Groove,) but I agree that the 2000s overall was a weak decade for Disney.

But I do need to re-watch Lilo and Stitch.

Great news, definitely in for all three - the only ones I really liked from that time.

Lilo, Emperor, and Atlantis 2 movie packs are coming June 11th according to bluray.com. I will still probably get them, even though I dont want the extra movies.

The Lilo & Stitch sequel is the only direct-to-DVD Disney sequel I enjoyed (not that I've bothered to watch many). Regardless, I love the movie and will pick up all three of these.

Mostly due to nostalgia (due for a revisit), but I always enjoyed Return of Jafar as the lone direct-to-video Disney sequel I like.

I know a ton of people that like Lilo & Stitch, but it just didn't work for me. I will re-visit if it hits Netflix streaming and maybe reevaluate, but I just remember feeling it was dumbed down (and I know this is a Disney movie) like a lot of the Disney Channel programming (Wizards of Waverly Place and that type of stuff).

Because the 2 movies fit nicely on a single BD, but not as comfortably on a DVD?

I know a couple of people that also enjoy Return of Jafar. I'd like to think that since it was the first of its kind, more thought/effort went into it before it descented into a "they'll lap up anything, let's just do these for as cheap as we can" strategy.

Apparently Robin Hood (40th anniversary) will be getting a release also...might be the same 8/27 date.

If anyone was waiting to pull the trigger, Emperor's New Groove has dipped to $20.69 on Amazon.

It was OK, but where is Stitch the Movie to go along with the 2-pack?

Re: Walt Disney Animated Classics 2013 Blu-ray releases

Don't know if it's considered a classic, but I just saw on blu-ray.com that "Return to Never Land" is up for pre-order on Amazon. For $33.29 (!!!!) Have they lost their damn minds? I don't think I ever saw any of Disney's legit classics more than $27.99 when first announced. Where do they get off? Also, the damn thing is only 72 minutes long. All that aside, "Return to Never Land" was a better than average effort. Especially given it's minor budget and production. Some of the animated scenes were really good. Such as the pirate ship over the house at the beginning. Major points off though for those two horrible songs by They Might Be Giants. A band I normally like.

Re: Walt Disney Animated Classics 2013 Blu-ray releases

According to blu-ray.com, Robin Hood, Sword in the Stone, & Oliver and Company will be released Aug 6. RH & SitS appear to include a digital copy as well as DVD. SitS and Oliver are up for preorder on Amazon.

Looks like August is going to be expensive for Disney stuff for me, with those three, Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh on the 27th, while it's not one of their animated movies or even a movie they made, they're releasing The Muppet Movie on Aug 13 too.

Re: Walt Disney Animated Classics 2013 Blu-ray releases

Amazon has finally added Robin Hood. I find it weird that Amazon still doesn't show release dates for the ones coming out in 3 weeks.
