Dark City audio glitch problem (please help!)

I've been Googling this and found that its a widespread problem, but with no clear solution. When I play the Dark City BD static can be heard throughout the whole movie. There's only one English non-commentary track: 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.

I don't have any external speakers. Is it a compatibility issue with my Sony 3-D BD player?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hrmmmm. I don't remember it having issues on my PS3. I'll check it out later.

Did not notice this when I watched my copy years back. Could be a player or receiver thing. I would look at whether your player is decoding the DTS-HD MA or just sending it through to the receiver untouched, and then try the opposite.
