Scorpion Releasing goes Blu

From this interview:

IJ – Are there any plans for Scorpion to start releasing either new or catalogue titles on Blu-ray?

WO - See above, yes, it will start with DEATHSHIP, to be followed by DAY OF THE ANIMALS, GRIZZLY, HUMAN EXPERIMENTS and some more that I am awaiting for the contract to be signed.

Awesome!

Maybe I should hold off on getting either one of the current Death Ship releases (R1/R2)

Re: Scorpion Releasing goes Blu

In the interview, Walter Olsen, who runs Scorpion, says that Death Ship won't have any extras, and that he is considering doing limited runs for the various Blu-rays. Death Ship's DVD release date is 11/6, but I didn't see any confirmation that the Blu-ray will have the same release date.

Always good to have more distributors releasing movies on Blu-ray!

Especially these genres! :)

It's a hard decision too, because the R2/UK release is stacked with extras.

I emailed to ask if they'd be upgrading older titles as well as debuting new ones, and this was the response:

It depends on a title by title basis, if they sold well on DVD, then it is a consideration.

Great News. Two great B-films to be released on Blu! I absolutely will support the releases.

More '70s disaster films need to be released to Blu. Where's THE SWARM, Warner? How about PHASE IV with the newly discovered ending! Maybe a "Killer Bee" pack (THE BEES, THE SAVAGE BEES, and TERROR OUT OF THE SKY). And of course, EARTHQUAKE, BEYOND THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE, and WHEN TIME RAN OUT!

Also, "some" of the extras from the DVD releases of Grizzly and Day of the Animals will be ported over.

The Bees???? Was that the one that had a someone driving a VW Beetle covered in bees into some sort of stadium?

If so that movie fucked me up as a kid. I'm very hard to freak out but swarms of any insects do it for me.

The Savage Bees (TV 1976) I found out it was a TV movie.

Damnit

I wonder if Chad contacted them about being a potential sponsor though....

The Monster Club is currently $10.98 on Amazon. That's an amazing price seeing as that it was just released recently.

Geez! That must've just dropped because I checked that price a couple hours ago. Thanks for the heads-up!

I tried buying Deathship last week, but despite being shrinkwrapped and everything, there wasn't a disc inside. :D

The Bees is insane. John Saxon addressing the government that we will have to live with The Bees, "on their terms", after his secret plan to try to stop them by spraying pheromones that will make them gay fails.... I would love to have this on either DVD or Blu-ray.

Never saw it, but it sounds great. Ordered one.

The Octagon starring Chuck Norris and Lee Van Cleef is up for preorder. If your a fan of a Chuck, this is one of his early classics.

It finally comes to Region A. There was a region-locked UK disc before this one.

Opera 3-disk limited edition is now for sale on Ronin Flix: https://roninflix.com/collections/br...products/opera

Why So Blu? 03-25-19 05:59 PM

Re: Scorpion Releasing goes Blu

Yeah, I'm skipping it. Too rich for my blood. It's not like it's Hardware and even that was lower in price. Can't justify the cost on this one.

Re: Scorpion Releasing goes Blu

Ordered a copy of the Opera 3-Disc LE earlier today.

The film was released in Italian Stereo in all previous (non-Scorpion Releasing) DVD & BDs. Still haven't heard from Scorpion Releasing on if the Italian Mono Track was a typo on the Press Release.

Scorpion Releasing have had previous (and current) issues with their Quality Control in the Audio Department. Still, I decided to take a risk and order it.

asianxcore 03-28-19 12:55 PM

Re: Scorpion Releasing goes Blu

The copy of Opera that I ordered should be delivered today but I have read reports of the Italian Audio indeed being Mono (not Stereo) :(

Scorpion Releasing's issue with Audio continues.

EDIT: Looks like the Subtitles on the Italian Track are Dubtitles

Geez, they did get these out quickly.

Yep, ordered on Monday and received mine today. Ronin's shipping has always been impressive and I'm glad that remains the case with their new distributor.
