I think the main reason is like others have said, many aren't willing to pay the $10/20 price difference upon release day and it's just not "worth it" to the manufacture or the regular joe blow customer.

I love buying TV on Blu-ray. I will buy any show that I like on Blu-ray, as long as they have released all of the seasons on the format. I hate mixing formats, so "The Office," for example, I have only bought DVD copies of. On top of it being annoying, my reasoning was that if they eventually release a complete series Blu-ray set (which I am praying for) I won't be double-dipping at all, it will be a strict and complete upgrade. It's definitely annoying having your favorite shows not get Blu-ray releases though. Thankfully Warner has their act together and is finally including lossless audio, since they're the most consistent studio releasing TV on BD.

That part REALLY doesn't make sense, since the discs are already pressed up and ready to be sold --- they would just need to print different packaging without the U.K. ratings labels on it. Kind of baffling, really. When shows don't get a release anywhere, I can understand that, but when another country gets them, it's insane to me that the U.S. can't get them.
Another good example is the complete series of "Prison Break" which has gotten complete series releases in two different countries at least.

With an MSRP of $129, this four-disc set would cost you $30 per disc if you actually paid full price for it. What you get for that price is a great transfer of 12 episodes of one of TV's most memorable shows, plus four forgettable commentaries. As The Sopranos usher in a new generation of disc formats for HBO, one would hope the company will take a long look at its past pricing practices and make adjustments. The show is right, the price ain't.
