Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012
I was in Walmart this morning. The original signage said $24.96 for the 2-disc combo pack and $34.96 for the 3D version. However, they are ringing up $19.96 and $24.96. The Anderson rep was changing the tags as I left.

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012
Ended up getting to Target about 20 minutes before they opened... up until 5 minutes before opening I was the only car in the regular part of the parking lot (employees were off to the side).. there were a couple employees cleaning in front of the store (power washing and picking up trash).. and there were 2 seagulls..
just about 5 minutes before opening.. in came a small amount of cars.. maybe 10.... and they parked.. when these folks got out of their cars.. I didn't think everyone was there for Avengers.. boy was I wrong.. the doors opened.. and all of us went to where the discs were setup... the 3D set was shelf marked $24.99... and they had the regular Blu set (the one mentioned they wouldn't get) marked $19.99.. I thought.. hmmm... maybe that was a regional thing or mistake on the website or urban legend.. then I heard the worker that was there talking to the small group of people.. explaining that it is $5 more to get the 3D set.. but if you want to save $5.. the regular set would be good... so I changed my plan to buy 2 and grabbed 1 ... then I noticed the price scanner nearby.. scanned the 3D set.. and .. it was $19.99.. so as I grabbed a 2nd copy (an Xmas present)... I told the people with the employee and the employee that the 3D set was indeed still $19.99... so basically the same price.. and here it is.. the punchline.. the employee told all of us.. that yes ... "right now".. it is $19.99 because they had price matched themselves on the other set as they orginally didn't think they were going to get any ... but now that they did get them ... the $19.99 price for the 3D set will only work for a little while "today only".... so the 70 year old guy that was there buying 5 copies (assumed for his grandchildren or that is gonna be us in a few decades)... put his non-3D sets back to get the 3D sets.. basically the employee was trying to steer people away from the 3D set.. likely to allow it to go back up to $24.99... but that small pack of us that were there early didn't take the bait.. (I even told a couple people in the checkout.. who went back to change up to the 3D set)... happy hunting... :D |
Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012
I sent my gf to Target this morning to grab me a copy of the SE set. She said they only had about 2 shelves worth of them, and alllllll the rest were just the standard BD or DVD.

Also, I stopped by Best Buy to pick up the Bond set. 8 people in front of me right when the store opened, and all of them picked up one of those collector's editions. Made me feel even better I bought that 4 disc set for $19.99, rather than $69.99 for the same set plus fluff. |

Picked up the BD/DVD Combo. Super easy transaction. Now I have one less thing to do on my way home today. |
Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012

Am I the only one who likes the 2D blu ray slipcover (blue) better than the 3D one (gold)?

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012
I think they both suck. That's why I bought the steelbook, so I could ditch the slipcover.

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012
It took awhile, but I was able to get Best Buy to match Target's $19.99 price on the 3D set.

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012
Target $19.99, no brainer.
Watching it now - love it. 3D credit are the best ever, dark opening, I hear the last 45 min is awesome in 3D. |
Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012
Took 2 Targets and I got the last one at the second but picked up the 3D set for $19.99... They were clueless at the 1st one about the 3D version.

(I would not have made that speech at the store in fear the workers there would have pulled the plug on the deal thinking something was wrong, but that's me.) |

I saw the film in 3D in both IMAX and RealD presentations. The IMAX 3D presentation was far more effective, but the only moment that truly looked 3D was when: Spoiler:

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012
Pick mine up at Target and they had it price for the 3D at $35.99 and BD/DVD $29.99. I asked one of salegirl if they suppose to price at $19.99 she took one of them and scan it and sure enough it was price at $19.99. Look like they forgot to put the sale price sign on them.

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012
You know, I just read about the $19.99 Target price. So how are people dealing with this who pre-ordered the Steelbook? There are 4 discs in the Avengers 3D combo, right? But there are only 3 hubs for discs in the steelbook.

It's basically a long ass documentary 1:38:20, broken down into the chapters listed on the pic. Thank goodness there's a play all option. Only have seen about 20 minutes, but so far I really like it.[/IMG]

Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012
Amazon's being very aggressive. They have just dropped the 3D set to $19.99.
$14.99 now after the $5 coupon. What a deal. |
Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012
Nice.
I should get the 3D version at Amazon with $10 promo code. :D |
Re: The Avengers - Sept. 25, 2012
Man, the packaging on the 3D version seriously sucks. How fucking cheap is Disney?
Cool how you can redeem the code inside for a poster. Just pay about $4 in s/h. Pretty sweet. |
