Blade Runner - 1 Disc Blu - Question

I got the blu during black friday sales and have never seen the movie. Heard so much about it and thought I should own it. Well I finally saw it a few days ago and it bored the hell out of me. Now this isnt a thread to complain, but I have it on AMC right now and theyre showing the movie. Its FULL of overdub narration like a noir movie. My blu has none of this and frankly Im my interested in whats on TV than the damn blu I got.

Did they purposely remove this from the 1 disc blu? I know there s 4 disc out there but it was always alot of $ and didnt think this 1 disc would be some version that doesnt let me chose a "theatrical" or "directors cut".... lame!

Well the Final Cut (aka the REAL DC) is what matters. The version you saw is US theatrical. Which sucks. It's a great interesting thing for sure.

To answer your question..yes, they did not include it cuz it's the theatrical. You got the definitive cut there. If you wanted the others. You had to get a set that had them all.

Yeah, the one disc blu is Ridley Scott's "Final Cut". The one you saw on AMC is the Theatrical cut. I grew up with the Theatical cut so I enjoy it as well, but the Final Cut is IMO the best. It's not a movie for every taste but I think the more you watch it, the more you'll appreciate it.

The theatrical cut is only available in the multi-disc blu-ray and DVD sets.

Aww man that sucks. I think it needed that noir element, though it did sound out of place on the TV. It almost seemed to be saying stuff that was implied but I like the touches like saying E Walsh was the type from the history books that called black people ************. It was a huge WTF moment

The multi disc set seems to be on sale now and then. I bought it for just over 20.00 less than 2 months after it was released.

I wasn't crazy about it at first either, you have to let it grow on you. I still don't consider it a great movie, but it is interesting, and certainly if you are a fan of the history of visual effects and sci-fi, it's certainly a landmark in those areas. Nice performance from Ford too. If the re-release had included the bonus disc I would've been happy with just that and the final cut disc. Can't say I've bothered with the other versions but you may have peaked my interest on checking out the theatrical.

Yeah I have only ever seen the Director's cut or the Final Cut. Never really seen what all the fuss was about. Have tried 3 times to do so. The Documentary Dangerous days and all the other extras on the 4 disk release are all fantastic. Really wish I could appreciate this like some people do but never truly been able to do so. It has good parts in it for sure but I think it just has an odd pace, structure or something else that kinda makes it so I cant get immersed in it.

I agree. The best part of the multi-disc set for me was getting a good quality version of the theatrical cut. There's just a different feel than from any of the other cuts.

See... I first saw the theatrical cut and practically fell asleep in my early teens... I was enthralled by the Final Cut and now consider it one of my favorite films... ymmv
