I was logged in and my info was all up to date, and yet the site still got hung up and eventually became completely unavailable for a couple of minutes. Having everything "punched in", whether you were a new user or a veteran, was clearly NO guarantee of getting through in a mad rush like this.

Did I say having your info punched in early was a guarantee of getting one? No, I didn't. But when the site itself is telling you to have the information pre-filled then it is pretty much your own fault for not heeding that warning if you don't get one. That is an extra minute or 2 that really could make the difference.

I see how putting my information MIGHT have been beneficial NOW, but I didn't see it or at least it didn't catch my eye on the sight to do this. Live, Learn.

Not to worry you, but they have said that the autographed deal only counted if it was $100+ in Twilight Time releases only.

I got the following...

CHRISTINE (1983 / AUTOGRAPHED)
THE FURY (1978)
ENEMY MINE (1985)
THE BIG HEAT (1953)
EXPERIMENT IN TERROR (1962)

Where did you read the releases only part? I saw "Twilight Time product" but I'm assuming anything they sell on their site is twilight time product.

They posted about that everywhere. You're not going to get the signed copy. You had to buy $100 of stuff from TT's label not random stuff from SAE.

Nope. Pretty sure Twilight Time has a designated section on the site.

Edit- maybe they don't have their own section but either way that won't make a difference.

I guess limiting quantities to just one per person was too much to ask.

I was logged in to my account and had these 5 TT titles in my cart:

Rapture
The Fury
Experiment in Terror
The Big Heat
Christine (autographed)

I hit the submit button at 4:01 and I got an error page. I went back and kept trying but everytime I got an error page. It wouldn't go through. Then, it sent me back to the Home Page at around 4:06. I checked my Orders Page but it was blank and no e-mails.

I just got my Christine in the mail yesterday from the original day of orders. I haven't looked at it yet. I forgot about this signed deal today. It says on the facebook page that it was all done in 5 minutes.

Yep, it had to be $100 of the TT released items. Nothing else counted towards the $100. I didn't fully realize the difference between the TT label and the ScreenArchivers site until earlier today. Heck, I was thinking of just buying 3 of the TT releases and then adding in a cheap CD or something to get me over the $100 hump. It finally clicked in my brain what the real situation was. I came that close to making the same stupid mistake.

And Gara, I'm not calling you stupid, I don't mean it like that. Check your account status and see if it's still active or canceled. Others have reported that they canceled some orders like that just a short while after they placed it, so they seemed to be on top of things.

I received my copy on Wednesday and agree, the spine is pretty bland. But it's otherwise a great looking release and I'm glad I got a copy of it. Though I do find the 'limited edition' aspect amusing in that, it does not list what # of the 3000 you have like most limited editions. So it's pretty pointless to advertise that aspect in my opinion.

Also when thinking about fees charged on Ebay and Paypal (owned by Ebay!) so you're being charged twice on the final amount including shipping fees! It's pretty worthless to try 'flipping' releases on their since you're not coming out 'that' much a head in most cases. Luckily for myself, I intend to keep this release of the film for my viewing enjoyment since I actually like the film unlike the greedy scalpers out their ruining things for fans of the film and other films.

I've always managed to come out just fine when selling on Amazon or eBay. They earn their fees by running the marketplace for sellers and buyers, you just need to price accordingly.

Nope, SAE and Twilight Time are two different things. Twilight Time is a label that has been releasing these titles on Blu-Ray. Screen Archives Entertainment is their distributor. They're the site that sells Twilight Time releases (amongst other products, mostly film scores).

You had to spend $100 in Twilight Time merchandise to be eligible for an autographed copy.

Re: The Official Twilight Time Blu-ray Thread

Here is a statement from SAE regarding yesterday's sales event:

We ran two main (web) servers this time, which worked out very well, because orders were taken continuously without any disruption in sales for another record-sales level event.
Traffic this time exceeded the traffic of last time and the system performed at a higher level.

This release had a specific "get it before it's gone" aspect to it, which cause the buyers to behave in ways that attacked the system by refreshing excessively, and also trying to get to the product page before it was live, such as attempting alternate methods to reach the product page.

The database server was boosted and never skipped a beat.
One of the web servers had a period of a few seconds where it was slow to respond and gave out errors to some people, but was still taking orders during that time. If they hit refresh (and they did), they were back on.
The second web server had no issues and took orders smoothly the entire time.

At no time did the site "crash" or was off-line. Orders were taken continuously and in the order in which they were received.
Everything sold out in a record amount of time. It was all over after five minutes. By the time anyone claimed they had any problems, there was nothing left to sell. Don't forget: We DO NOT control the back-end credit card processing with Authorize.net (or the even slower PayPal).
Some people had problems getting through only because of the sheer amount of orders for a limited supply of the product. We can't control the demand either.

You've obviously never tried to get tickets to San Diego Comic-Con.

I sent the following email to SAE just before 6pm yesterday...

Good day, I was able to get an order in for a signed copy of the Christine Blu-ray, and was just wondering if you could let me know how many signed copies were avavailable? It doesn't much matter, but I can't help but wonder. Also, how many of the normal copies were available today roughly? Thanks a lot, and I can't wait to receive my order. You guys are the best!
They just replied with the following exact message...

150 signed
I have no clue if it was mentioned or even known before, but there ya go.

EDIT:

I just replied to that message with the following...

Thanks! The regular version seemed to sell out almost instantly. How many of those were up for grabs anyway? I'm guessing no more than 50 or 100. Is that about right?
And they replied almost instantly with another short message...

About that
So, there ya go...again.

I hope they sell a lot of records... But if this is going to become the Blu-ray equivalent to Mondo, count me out. I already have Scream Factory and they do an infinitely better job on their releases.

Someone posted on another forum the items could not be in cart before 4:00 or 1:00 pst to make this deal work. The best and fastest way is to have the items
on you wish list and add them to your cart right after 4:00.
Now if you started to add items after 4:00 start time to your cart.
SAE site might be at fault.
