Just a heads-up that there is now a countdown clock on the JUMANJI 3D pre-order at Random Space and it's down to the final 3+ hours as I write this. Don't know if that means they're only manufacturing enough copies to fulfil orders, or if it will continue to be available for purchase afterward (perhaps at a different price?).
https://randomspacemedia.com/product...lu-ray-blu-ray Stock has landed and we are so excited to see Jumanji: The Next Level shipping out to you tomorrow! |
Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
That’s awesome. Thanks for heads up. Just pre-ordered. Thought the first was fantastic in 3D. Haven’t even seen TNL yet, so looking forward. Didn’t even think this would come out in 3D. Woot!

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
Geez, I don’t even know anything about this Random Space Media. They legit? About how long from Aus to US is usually shipping time?
|
Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
I already got shipping confirmation. How in the world is that possible?
|
Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
Was this release even on the horizon/anyone hear about it? It amazes me that in minutes I go from not hearing a thing about this release to shipping confirm.

I placed my order just before I mentioned the countdown clock earlier today, and had a shipping notice exactly 90 minutes later, but as mentioned the pre-order has been up for a month or more. The company is legit despite seemingly popping up from nowhere, and they have titles unavailable anywhere else. Whoever runs the show there must have some pull, and the fast turnaround suggests they’re eager to court overseas buyers. Eager to see what else they release.

I decided to splurge on Jumanji as well and tossed in Venom while I was at it.

I ordered it a few weeks ago, why haven’t I gotten a shipping notice yet?

So Metalstorm it live action Aladdin this weekend? You choose…

Hong Kong retailer Buyoyo is listing some "pre-orders" for what's likely additional runs of certain 3D titles, to be released on 2021/07/21. These are all at least Region A, so playable in the US. There's some bargain prices there, at least before shipping. Note that quite a lot of the single-disc titles have the 3D disc ONLY, so will not come with a bonus disc, or sometimes not even the 2D version.
Also, make sure you click on the correct Blu-ray. It may be the second or third on the product page. I'm including the product code at the end of the description so you can check. I'm spoilering the list due to size: Spoiler:
---- In addition to the above pre-orders, the following are part of a 3 for HK$249(US$32.1) promotion: Spoiler:
You can check out the 2D titles that are part of this promotion here: https://www.buyoyo.com/buyoyo/eng/Vi...ype=B&prtype=0 ----- Some other 3D titles that are cheap or not available in the US in 3D: Spoiler:
----- You can also use this search to see other 3D Blu-rays they have, although the list includes some titles that aren't 3D Blu-rays, so be sure to double check before buying: https://www.buyoyo.com/buyoyo/eng/Gl...roductType2=56 Finally, note that shipping is based on "Delivery Unit," with most Blu-rays being 1 DU, and the shipping is in tiers, with more DUs bumping you into higher tiers. So sometimes, cutting one title out of your cart could save you a lot of money, or adding one more won't cost you any more in shipping: https://www.buyoyo.com/buyoyo/eng/sh...138B86C7BA72FA https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...b7b4253a2f.jpg Thanks Jay G |

Yeah, but I heard it was pretty good. And 3D and I’m curious how it translate. The other, I’m like ok, but I need fun rn…

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
If you are going to booze it up watch Metalstorm, otherwise Aladdin.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
It probably will MS next weekend. Popped in Aladdin for a bit and while 3D was great. The leads were just boring and had zero chemistry. I’ll get back to, but not itching.

3D Film Archive always partners with a home media label like Kino Lober to release their titles. They haven't announced their partner for Robot Monster yet. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...lu-ray-and-dvd |

At least Robot Monster, you can add on a special lenticular cover I take that back: Will there be any differences between the Kickstarter disc and the version released commercially? No, they will be the exact same disc and content. The advantage to placing a pre-order is that you will be among the first to receive it, well before the commercial release. In addition, the bonus add-ons (lenticular cover, View-Master package) will only be available to backers of this pre-order campaign. |
Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
I believe the Kickstarter copies ship out a bit earlier than the retail ones do, and as you note at least for this Kickstarter you can pay more to get an exclusive lenticular cover. But yes, if the Kickstarter is already funded, and you can be patient, you could wait for a sale and save money.
However, I think contributing to the Kickstarter can have an impact above "does this movie get released or not." I think the Kickstarter pledge totals and first week sales of a title likely influence future titles, which ones and how often they're released. Seeing a very successful Kickstarter that went way above its goal could influence more studios to license out 3D movies for release, and it encourages distributors like Kino Lorber to keep distributing them. What's more, I'm just guessing but I figure 3D Film Archive gets a far larger cut of the sale from the Kickstarter than from the retail sales, so I know more of my money is going straight to an entity dedicated to licensing and releasing more 3D content. But it's all a subjective determination of value and affordability. I can afford to pay a bit more upfront to support these releases, so I do. I'm not going to begrudge someone willing to wait a few months to get them on sale though. |
Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
I ask because I was reading a thread on the other board about some 3D Kickstarter film and the makers had said they were going to do it BD-R... and as I typed that out I remembered, it's: Enhanced Dimensions Collect3D.
Also finally got around to watching Tomb Raider 3D and it struck be as a below average 3D experience. |

I got my name in the special thanks credits also. I was surprised Robot Monster’s fundraiser took in so much, but they barely break even on some other titles.

Probably a smart thing. Because why pay $40 on the Kickstart when you can buy it for $15 shipped from Kino a few months later during one of their sales and get the exact same item. I kinda felt ripped off after buying Dynasty so I didn't buy the next release thru Kickstarter.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
The 3D Archive announced a second commentary for the ROBOT MONSTER disc:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects.../posts/3276462 I am very pleased to announce an additional commentary track for this release! Kevin Scott Collier is the author of Robot Monster Diaries, a fabulous book with many fascinating behind the scenes stories about this iconic motion picture. Mr. Collier will be providing a bonus commentary track for the feature and we are absolutely delighted to have him on board! |
Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
The ROBOT MONSTER disc topped 1,000 pledges, so three more bonus features are being added:
Wow, the success of this pre-order campaign is simply amazing. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! As we hit the fantastic milestone of 1,000 pledges, I'm very pleased to announce three additional bonus segments for this release. 1. In association with our good friend Carl Scheckel at Carl's Comix, we are proud to present the newly restored Golden Age 3-D comic book, ADVENTURES IN 3-D! Cover by Howard Nostrand. Stories and art by Bob Powell and Howard Nostrand. 2. Restored Golden Age 3-D short from Broadway Roadshow Productions. The title will be announced very soon but rest assured, "They Pop Right Off the Screen!" The Winona Times - September 4, 1954 3. A Night at the Movies - a specially curated collection from 3DFA producer Jack Theakston with original 2-D trailers and snipes from the summer of 1953, recreating what you would have seen in theatres at the time ROBOT MONSTER was playing first-run in Los Angeles. |

Anyone have Colin Farrell Fright Night 3D? Decent 3D? I’ve always liked movie and Anton, of course. Saw once, way back. liked this one and figured why not get the best possible for now. Heard some mixed reviews. Seemed overall decent, but want to verify with someone who saw…

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
It’s good, nothing reference but still a very enjoyable to see in 3D.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.
Nice. That’s all I need. Not drab or dismal. But good sounds good. Thanks tres. Amazon marketplace seller had like new for $20 with shipping. I have the 2D and digital, but $35 on Vudu for 3D/2D, figured this was better choice and probably better quality.
