ugh, what's this love for part 2 (okay, okay, you're entitled to your opinion) 3 was my favourite. Am guessing the 3D version might be a Best Buy exclusive [fingers crossed]

No 3D = I don't give a shit. It's a fun gimmick, but it didn't add that much to the movie. I'll buy this because it was fun and dark.

Final Destination 5 had the best use of live-action 3D since Step Up 3D. From the opening sequence to all of the individual set pieces, Quale and company knew how to frame and stage the flick to get the most out of the technology. I ended up seeing the film twice in 3D due to how impressed I was by it. And I don't say that for most 3D films.

5 was a definite return to form, and the 3D was actually pretty damn fun in the theater. I have no use for it at home though.

But, of course, those of you who enjoy doing so will completely disagree with me.

Now that I have a 3D tv I'll take a copy. Thank you! No 3D option = a really bad decision in my opinion.

I'd rather have the 3D be a retailer exclusive than not available at all. Hell, I even bought The Final Destination on 3D blu-ray just to let the studio know that there is a market - and then they don't announce a 3D version of the one that actually made good use of 3D. I loved FD5 but I'm holding out for the 3D disc.

unlike the other non 3D exclusives where great deals can be had inspite of best buy being the only retailer selling them.
29.99 was the best price that has been offered for example on the Dreamworks best buy exclusives and that was after a few weeks of them allready on the shelf.
but as you mention retailer exclusive is much better than nothing at all

That's fine, I can see needing a new TV and getting one that's 3D because it's the right price range or whatever. People who go out and buy 3DTVs just because it's 3D are stupid, no offense to anyone here but I think it's stupid. That technology is not going to last it will die out eventually. And I just think people who spend all this money converting over are wasting their time and their money! I believe 3D to be just a fad that will eventually disappear.

Just looking at my HD Spending Tabs from the past year, here's all the Blu-ray 3Ds I've picked up:
12/16/10: Despicable Me / $50 / $22 / NBC Universal Store / Includes Blu-ray 3D + DVD + Digital Copy
12/21/10: Step Up 3 / $50 / $20 / Best Buy / Includes Blu-ray 3D + DVD + Digital Copy
01/11/11: Piranha 3D / $39.95 / $20.49 / Borders / Includes Blu-ray 3D
01/25/11: Saw: The Final Chapter / $49.99 / $4.99 / Amazon / Includes Blu-ray 3D + DVD + Digital Copy
03/29/11: Tangled / $49.99 / $16.99 / Amazon / Includes Blu-ray 3D + DVD + Digital Copy
04/05/11: Tron: Legacy / $49.99 / $15.99 / Target / Includes Blu-ray 3D + DVD + Digital Copy
10/04/11: Beauty and the Beast / $49.99 / $21.99 / Amazon / Includes Blu-ray 3D + DVD + Digital Copy
10/04/11: The Lion King / $49.99 / $21.99 / Amazon / Includes Blu-ray 3D + DVD + Digital Copy
10/06/11: Thor / $54.99 / $19.99 / Overstock / Includes Blu-ray 3D + DVD + Digital Copy
Nothing cost more than $22 and with the exception of one, all came with the 2D version on its own Blu-ray disc alongside a DVD and a Digital Copy. I also just snagged the 3D combo pack of Captain America from Overstock for under $20 and I still have the 3D combo pack of Cars 2 on pre-order from Amazon.
