Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
John, was this the one that was on sale for $9.99?
http://www.amazon.com/White-Dwarfs-L...9567589&sr=1-6 I found two of them in store today with tags on them for $149.99 and they were ringing up $49.99, so I passed |
Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
That was it. Looks like they changed the price online as well. Probably still not bad for $49.99 if you're into collecting the Disney Limited Edition sets.

Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
I'll keep checking the site time to time to see if the price drops again. That BB is in the ghetto, so I'm sure they will still be there for awhile :)

Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
For 2012, I hope Disney puts the following on blu-ray:
Hercules The Prince of Egypt Fritz the Cat ;) |
Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
I've stated this before in the previous thread, but I really hope that Hercules comes out soon. It's the only animated classic that didn't receive a special edition re-release or an anamorphic transfer on DVD. I don't know why Disney skipped over this one.

Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
^agree yes it wasn't a great film but still fun nonetheless

I'd love to have Titan A.E. on blue (even though Bluth loves to make his aliens too cartoony)... but isn't that a Fox flick?

Not just mexico, but Uk and everywhere else. Know one is really quite sure why Disney Yanked it from the us release schedule last year when they did.

Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
I doubt that is the reason, I seem to remember there's been a couple times where Disney released an anniversary edition when it was off by a year.
EDIT: Just checked, Lady and the Tramp's 50th anniversary was in 2005, but they released the '50th Anniversary Edition' in 2006 |

Aladdin is not part of the Diamond line. It was removed.
My big wants (and God know when they'll get released) are: The Adventures Of Ichabod & Mr. Toad Robin Hood and for non-features: Mickey's Christmas Carol Prep & Landing |
Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
According to AICN, the Lady and the Tramp insert lists these for 2012:
30 April 2012: BAMBI and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST go "back in the vault" Summer 2012: THE RESCUERS 35th Anniversary Edition/THE RESCUERS DOWN UNDER (2-Movie Collection) Summer 2012: POCAHONTAS/POCAHONTAS 2 (2-Movie Collection) 07 August 2012: THE ARISTOCATS Special Edition Fall 2012: CINDERELLA Diamond Edition Spring 2013: ALADDIN Diamond Edition Summer 2012: LION KING 1 1/2 and LION KING 2 Summer 2012: LADY AND THE TRAMP 2 |
Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
Rescuers and Rescuers Down Under 2 movie collection? Finally, a 2 movie collection that makes sense! Pocahontas and Pocahontas 2? Yep, anyway to pedal their crap sequels. And Aladdin! Of course the only trilogy that Disney has done that makes sense to release as a trilogy, but will they?
|
Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
Pocahontas isn't deserving of it's own release?

Pocahontas is a nice surprise. I'd like to see Lilo, Tarzan & New Groove as well.

Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
I hope you're right about Aladdin
|
Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
Aladdin is rumoured to go the 3D theater route before the bluray release.

Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
Guess I better get Beauty and the Beast before Disney throws it back in the vault. I'll get The Rescuers/The Rescuers Down Under when it comes out and also Aladdin for sure.
|
Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
Gah, I want Lilo and Stitch darn it :(

Disney already has Finding Nemo in 3D this fall. That gets followed up by Monsters Inc. in spring of 2013 and The Little Mermaid that fall. They're not going to replace Monsters Inc. as it's getting re-released months prior to the theatrical release of the sequel. They're also not going to re-release two films in 3D so close to each other as that reeks too much of a blatant cash grab. If Aladdin does get a 3D post-convert, it might see a 3D release first on Blu-ray and than a theatrical release a la Beauty and the Beast. |

Will also buy The Aristocats, Cinderella, and Aladdin. |
Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
I've learned my lesson from not getting them on Release week when the prices are best. Now I have to probably pay a premium for The Lion King, Dumbo and the Fox and the Hound set. I plan to get them all, except the sequels (unless they're packaged in of course).

Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
You should try the Disney Movie Club. If you can find 9 titles you want (and all three of those you listed are included), they'll average out to about $10 each.
|
Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
Aw, still a long wait for Aladdin, but glad that Return of Jafar is going blu, too.

It took a few years for Disney to even star releasing the films I want on Blu-Ray, non Disney animation is taking even longer, Iron Giant, Balto and several others. |
Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
Yeah, the Disney movies that I took my kids to see in the theaters is the stretch of Pocahontas, Hunchback, Hercules, Mulan and Tarzan. It will be nice once those start releasing on blu-ray. After that stretch, Disney pretty much completely derailed, although I find Lilo & Stitch entertaining enough.
|
Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
Emperor's New Groove, Fantasia 2000 & Lilo & Sitch are among those included in your "derailment years.". I just can't get on board with that. Atlantis is pretty decent as well.
I think the only solid stretch a case could be made for is from Treasure Planet to either Bolt or Princess & the Frog (depending on your love of Bolt). |
Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
Emperor's New Grove and Atlantis also needs a blu-ray, seems that most of what I blu-ray is not among their "classics" aside from 101 Dalmatians, Lady And The Tramp, Robin Hood, most of the animated films I would like are 1980 and beyond.
|
Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2012 bluray releases
I'd love to see Atlantis on blu-ray.
