Do you abbreviate Blu-ray to "BD" or "BR"

Some differences of opinion on this board so I thought I'd test the waters. I go for "BD" myself.

Re: Do you abbreviate Blu-ray to "BD" or "BR"

I guess I just got in the habit in the early days type BR to further distinguish it from HD or SD

There's no 'D' in Blu-Ray.

I use either BD or blu. I don't know many people at all who use BR.

Everytime I see "BR" I think of "Battle Royale"

I use "blu" too, but for this poll I was wondering specifically about the BD vs. BR

I chose BD. Also, thank you for typing Blu-ray correctly. It bugs me when people capitalize the R or leave out the hyphen.

Re: Do you abbreviate Blu-ray to "BD" or "BR"

BR seems more natural to me but every time I start to type it I catch myself and change it to BD. Most of the time however, I just write the whole thing out, Blu-ray.

It's not exactly a tremendously long term that is just dying to be abbreviated, like Digital Versatile Disc.

Re: Do you abbreviate Blu-ray to "BD" or "BR"

BD because it's a disc. Otherwise people might think you're talking about the actual ray itself, like the ray from a death ray gun or a shrink ray gun.

Me too, and the capping is an important part of the question (or at least I think it is anyway)

Re: Do you abbreviate Blu-ray to "BD" or "BR"

It's weird because I use BD, though I've never said "Blu-ray Disc" in my life. Also, except for that past example I always capitalize "Ray" so it says "Blu-Ray" it just looks better to me!

I just call it a dvd or a disc. I really don't care what color it is.

However, there is in its full official name, Blu-ray Disc. It's also why D is part of the official logo.

A Blu-ray is not a DVD.

To answer the OP, I rarely abbreviate it, but when I do it's BD.
