Green Lantern - 10/14/11

Per HD Room:

The Green Lantern on Blu-ray 3D, DVD and Blu-ray combo pack (SRP $40.99) and Blu-ray and DVD combo pack (SRP $35.99)

The Blu-ray 2D version of Green Lantern will include a new extended cut that runs at 120 minutes, in addition to the theatrical cut at 114 minutes. Warner has offered no hint as to what those extra minutes will include.

Both the Blu-ray 2D and 3D versions will also include a Playstation 3 Sinestro Corp Batman skin for Batman: Arkham City that will allow Batman to wear a yellow suit and fight crime with the power of fear in single and multiplayer modes. Consider this suit a PS3 exclusive.

Here's a complete list of bonus features shared by the Blu-ray 3D and 2D skus. BD-Live access will only work from the Blu-ray 2D discs, which is included in the Blu-ray 3D package.

Maximum Movie Mode with Picture in Picture Pods

I'd consider watching this when it hits HBO HD, although by most accounts I'd be wise not to.

Doubt those extra 6 minutes will fix the problems with the movie but I'll still pick it up. I'm a GL junkie.

I wanted to like this but it sucked ass big time. I doubt I'll watch it again until it hits HBO or somewhere at some point.

These barely extended cuts need to go away. If it's less than half an hour of new footage, it's doubtful it'll make for a worthwhile change.

As long as the original theatrical cut is still preserved on the Blu-ray, I could care less.

I'm surprised Warner isn't fast tracking this for a September release. The film is doing worse overseas than it did here in America.

That's a lot of blue for a movie about a green superhero.

I wouldn't go that far.

Green Lantern, once it finishes up its theatrical release overseas, will still probably be a $100 million loss for Warner. Maybe less, but not by a significant amount. Once all is said and done, I can see Warner recouping that loss after DVD/BD/digital rentals and sales.

Mars Needs Moms lost Disney over $200 million once all was said and done. Disney even knew they had a disaster on their hands and severed all ties with Imagemovers before the film even got released. That film ain't recouping Disney shit.

Re: Green Lantern - 10/14/11

A buy for me. Me and the wifey both enjoyed it and didn't really see much wrong with it despite the critics slamming it. The 3d cover is actually decent, but sadly I'm pretty sure the 2d cover will be a giant floating head of Ryan Reynolds. Hopefully, a 3d copy (even though I have no need for it) shows up at my local swap shop on the cheap.

They may put the BD in a green case.

I was hoping we'd get a much longer director's cut just to see if the film would have been tolerable, al la Daredevil. But 6 minutes isn't going to do much.

This is another Friday release as well. X-Men is also due on a Friday. We're starting to see a few more of those lately.

Doubtful...neither of the animated features did. I actually contemplated buying a few green cases for the Green Lantern and Hulk related items that didn't have one. I'm silly like that sometimes.

/\ I think First Flight did have a green case initially, although it was just that first pressing.

Wow, no Blake Lively anywhere?

And nice to see 3D Viewers only get access to one cut of the film.

I was fortunate enough to review First Flight and don't remember a green cover (however I will instinctively check when I get home). Now, I'm doubting myself LOL.

Re: Green Lantern - 10/14/11

I heard the extra 6 minutes is a Blake Lively shower scene.
