Cool I can replace my laserdisc. I don't recall what station, but I caught it in HD on TV last year, assuming there was a blu-ray coming.

Re: Scrooged Oct 11

The disc had better include the content prepared for the Yule Love It! Edition that was announced on DVD years ago but was quickly canceled.

For anyone who doesn't remember, here are the features announced for that edition:
- Audio Commentary with Director Richard Donner
- "A Christmas to Remember" Featurette
- "Updating Ebenezer" Featurette
- "Bringing the Ghosts to Life" Featurette
- "The Look of Scrooged" Featurette
- "On the Set with Bill Murray" - Parts 1 and 2 Featurettes
- "Showest Message from Bill Murray" Clip
- Theatrical Trailer

As much as I'd like this, my hopes are very low for this.

Re: Scrooged Oct 11

Why? Seems like all the features were produced...I assume they've just been lying in a Paramount vault since 2006.

Because one has to wonder why the special edition was delayed in the first place, could it have been legal/clearance issues with some of those featurettes?

That definitely comes to mind, but what would Paramount have lost the rights to? All of the material was either produced by Paramount for the DVD, or vintage materials they would own.

Re: Scrooged Oct 11

Well it looks like my procrastination in buying this on DVD has paid off! As this will be a new purchase for me, I'll be happy with a good transfer, OAR and a decent soundtrack, although any extras would be greatly appreciated.

Throw Stripes in there and I'll agree.

Stripes is apparently coming this year too. There's a thread at Blu-Ray.com and a German edition slated for the 9/22. Will reportedly have both the TC and EC. I guess it's also played some HD movie channels and I know Netflix will allow you to stream it in HD (TV only, though), so those may be an indication of PQ.

Re: Scrooged Oct 11

I love this movie and I watch it every Christmas. Very funny. I suppose that it could look good on blu-ray.

We've seen many times in the past some legal issue popping up resulting in either a supplement being edited or getting dropped all together for one reason or another. For all I know, maybe Murray himself had a problem with something or raised an issue about proper compensation or....who knows?

Re: Scrooged Oct 11

Paramount is releasing "Scrooge", the Albert Finney musical on October 11th as per Digital Bits. Um, was the "Scrooged" thing a mistake then?

I won't be holding my breath for this, but will watch it. HD might make the difference.

Maybe. But "Scrooged" does appear to be coming out in Nov. in the UK, so maybe there is a US release too:

from Digital Bits;

"And Paramount has set Scrooged for Blu-ray release on 11/1 as well - this is the Billy Murray Christmas comedy at long last. Extras will include the film's theatrical trailer. SRP is $19.99."

Re: Scrooged Oct 11

Perhaps a mod can change the thread's title to include the corrected release date?

Fixed. I'll still pick it up though.
