Fox has announced via Crave that Matthew Vaughn's critically praised X-Men: First Class starring James McAvoy, Kevin Bacon, Rose Byrne and Jennifer Lawrence is headed to Blu-ray and DVD on September 9.
The announcement comes just a couple days before Comic-Con kicks off and the timing is no coincidence. Fox will be heavily promoting the X-Men: First Class home video release at the Con by offering the first 1,000 fans who pre-order the Blu-ray or DVD version a free shirt that either features Charles Xavier (McAvoy) or Erik Lehnsherr (Fassbender).
What shirt you get will be determined by which cover you choose. Fox is creating two limited edition covers; one featuring Charles and the good mutants, and the other with Erik and the not-so-good ones. Crave's article neglects to spell out what makes them limited so we'll have to wait until Fox chimes in for more clarification on that front.
What they do tell us is that the Blu-ray edition will include "hours" of supplements such as ten X-Men Digital comics including a never-before-seen backstory comic, and a Cerebro Mutant Tracker interactive video database spanning all the X-Men films. Again, a complete list of extras will have to wait until Fox's press release goes out.

The Magneto cover sucks less (mainly cos of the shot of Magneto himself). But what's the point of this? Do they really expect people to buy two copies in order to get both covers? A Star Trek-style slipcover would have seemed more logical.

I like both covers fine. Mags is hte better one though. Still amazed they chose another pic of Xavier putting his fingers on his temple again...one thing they could've toned a bit in terms of usage.

Definitely picking this up.
Been missing a lot of new films in theaters lately, so I'm glad the BDs are coming out so quick

X-men, along with Bridesmaids, are the only 2 Summer movies I've really liked. So I'm glad one of them is coming out to BD so quickly. Barely 3 months after its theatrical debut.

They are the only two I loved, so far. I liked both "Horrible Bosses" and "Midnight in Paris" a great deal too. Haven't seen "Potter" yet (or even "Thor"). Hope "Captain America" and "Cowboys and Indians" will be good too. Otherwise, this summer has royally sucked at the movies.

I skipped X3 and Wolverine based on the reviews, but I'm thinking I might finally be able to own another Xmen movie with this one.

I don't think you'll be disappointed, tied w/ X2 imo. Not really into the hokey dual covers marketing gimmick, but I'll get Xavier if given the choice.
