Better Off Dead Blu 8.2.11
Nobody seems to have mentioned this (that I could find) but looks like Better Off Dead is getting a blu-release on August 2nd!
http://www.amazon.com/Better-Dead-Bl...1077105&sr=8-1
I suspect there will be no extras, but I can't seem to find any specs or reviews.
Also hoping we'll see some more Paramount 80s comedies on blu (a man can dream)

I believe it was mentioned in the Releases thread.
I know I'll be getting it day one but I expect I'll have to go online for it.
Summer School would be a nice follow up.

OMG, never thought I'd see this one. Give me The Sure Thing as well and I'll be happy.
I think Rad is my holy grail of Blu's but BOD will do nicely.

They should really do a commentary getting Cusack, Armstrong, and "Savage" Steve Holland reminiscing.
But then, they need to do that for One Crazy Summer too.

Supposedly Cusack hates this movie; some website had an interview with Holland and the story was that Cusack came up to Holland and was pissed asking "What did you do to me in that movie?"

There was a commentary on the "One Crazy Summer" DVD. The "Better Off Dead" soundtrack stayed in print a long time, but looks like it's gone now. Selling for crazy prices on Amazon right now.

I always looked at this as the first in Savage Steve Hollands "Seasons" cycle of films, Better Off Dead is the Winter movie, One Crazy Summer is (no surprise) the Summer Move, How I got Into College is the Autumn movie...and he's got no real "spring" movie.
I listen to the Better Off Dead soundtrack frequently. I remember buying it on LP in the mid 80s and being really excited to be able to upgrade to CD in the early 90s.

Cusack's outward hatred of the movie may have softened slightly in the last couple of years, but I'm sure he still doesn't like it, and he certainly never made peace with Holland. One Crazy Summer was already filming when the film was first screened, so that's why he's in both.

I have the Better Off Dead soundtrack, somewhere... however, like all of my CDs, I converted that shit digitally years ago.
I pre-ordered the BD off Amazon the day it was announced (and I got locked in at a cheaper price, winning). Better Off Dead is one of my personal favorite movies, so I'm glad to see it get a Blu-ray release. It sucks that it's a bare bones affair, but I'm glad that it's getting a release nonetheless.

That's sort of what I mean; around the time of Hot Tub Time Machine lots of people would ask him about his '80s comedies and he at least seemed to avoid saying he didn't like it. It's gone from movie he doesn't talk about it and infrequently dismisses to a movie he accepts that he's done and people like (without ever suggesting that he himself likes it, and perhaps subtly hinting that he is still confused by its popularity).
