Bridesmaids

No date yet, but Amazon has pre-orders up for a "Two-Disc Blu-Ray & DVD Combo + Digital Copy" in both Blu-Ray and DVD packaging:

Hopefully there's a good cast commentary. I just listened to the Get Him to the Greek commentary and Rose Byrne was very funny on it. I'm sure there will also be between 18 and 90 hours of deleted and extended scenes.

Re: Bridesmaids

Boy, I was oddly underwhelmed by this movie. I didn't take much humor in watching her character do a lot of what she did. But I know many in my family will want to watch it a few times, so I'll pick this up when it's a decent price. I'm with you though, I think a good cast commentary would make the purchase worth it.

Re: Bridesmaids

I would've trimmed it by 20 or so mins. but it was pretty entertaining. I'll get it at some point.

Re: Bridesmaids

For me, this was easily the funniest movie of the year so far. Wiig is a comic genius. Day 1 purchase for sure.

Ditto. My wife and I loved it, as did the whole theater as far as I could tell. Laughed almost non-stop.

Re: Bridesmaids

The first Apatow film that I truly didn't like. And yes, I saw Drillbit Taylor and Step Brothers.

However, my wife loved it and I'm always down for Apatow's bonus materials.

I liked it a lot, but something kept me from loving it. Still, it will be a day 1 purchase for me and the fiancee, and that's saying something.

BTW, Step Brothers is comedic genius, so no shame there .

Agreed. Step Brothers is one of my favorite comedies ever...and I hear more SB quotes than any other movie lately.

Same here. Meanwhile my wife and her best friend laughed their butts off. I fluffed it off to it being a chick flick.

My wife and I both loved it. We left the theater declaring this would be one we'd want on Blu-ray, and hoping it will feature a lot of entertaining bonus content.

Re: Bridesmaids

I really hope this wins at the Golden Globes for best film-comedy or musical and actress for Wiig in the same category. Too bad there is no supporting actress for that category because Melissa McCarthy would be a lock even if the film and Wiig didn't win.

Well, she already tricked the TV academy into giving her a nomination for "Mike & Molly", which is clearly something she ONLY earned because of BRIDESMAIDS. I loved her in Bridesmaids and think she is talented, but "Mike & Molly"? Give me a break - if it weren't for this flick, that nomination never would have happened.

Re: Bridesmaids

Looking forward to seeing it. I went to the theater to see it and left about 15 minutes in because there was a REALLY REALLY loud group of women sitting behind me all talking over the movie and they would just not shut up! But I have liked all of the Apatow movies I have seen and this looks funny and got alot of good reviews so I'm happy about the extras-packed Blu-Ray.

Re: Bridesmaids

Easily the most entertaining Summer movie I've seen. Cannot wait to see it again. Hopefully the gag reel is funny.

Re: Bridesmaids

After all the hype about this movie, I felt it was really below par (especially after watching Step Brothers the previous weekend)

I don't think I laughed more than 3 times during the whole film... (which admittedly is 3 more laughs than "Bride Wars" got!)

Firstly, welcome to the forum!

I think when it comes to comedies in particular, there's no accounting for taste. I've been bored by some of the classics (Airplane! did nothing for me) and I've been surprised by some of the "lesser" movies (Steve Zahn makes Daddy Day Care a personal favorite). I loved Bridesmaids, but I confess I found myself laughing several times in complete spite of myself. There were gags and jokes in that movie that I would likely scorn any other time, but for whatever reason I couldn't help but laugh.

I think seeing it on a night my wife and I were feeling relaxed, with a theater full of enthusiastic people also laughing, had a lot to do with it. It may be that it was the viewing experience I enjoyed more than the movie itself, but I'm not going down that rabbit hole of semantics.

I've been waiting for Bridesmaids on blu since the day I last saw it in the theater. It figures that right when Amazon seemed to be getting back to matching quickly and with almost every big title (the only one I think they didn't was X-Men: First Class) that they're waiting so long on this one.

I mean, it's not going to be $25 on Tuesday, so just get it over with. And I'm not sure I've ever seen them sell a new release without the .99 at the end, so what gives with $25 even? Seems like it serves as placeholder price and they just haven't gotten around to updating it with what will hopefully be the BB price. I think I've checked their site 20 times today. I think, with Prime, I can get an order in by Sunday and still get the blu by Tuesday, but they'll probably wait until Tuesday just to screw with me.

Since I have to go to BB for Dumbo, I might just not give them all of my business this week.
