what a stinker. I'm convinced the greatness of the first one was that it was just a product of it's time. I will not watch another new Wes Craven flick until ALL the reviews are out.

Not a fan of the series or Horror movies in general but i might get this one because it was filmed in and around my hometown, always cool to see local scenery in a hollywood movie, they did there cooking & eating of there lunches at my place of work, i know woo hoo....

-1. I liked it a lot actually but I was just happy that it will, in my mind, replace Scream 3 and close out the trilogy. And it looks like they went with the artwork that will match the others as well.

Re: Scream 4 -----> 10/4/2011

1. Scream 2
2. Scream
3. Scream 4

...

4. Scream 3

While it didn't come to the greatness of the first two films, it was leaps and bounds better than the awful closer of the original trilogy. This won't be a day one purchase because we all know Anchor Bay will drop it down to $12 within weeks of release.

I found this extremely enjoyable and, as TheMovieman, and to a lesser extent Matthew said, I can just pretend Scream 3 doesn't exist. Hope there are some good extras here, mainly the deleted scenes mentioned in the movie thread in the new release forum, and a commentary.

I enjoyed the hell out of this one. It was fun, clever, entertaining, funny, etc. It was the best since the original in my opinion.

Looking forward to getting it when it comes out as I didn't see it in the theater. But according to one of the horror movie sites there's not even an commentary as part of the extras which is very surprising. You'd think either Craven and/or Williamson would want to do one like they did for the other 3.

Both versions of the title include a making-of featurette, an alternate opening, an extended ending, deleted and extended scenes, and a gag reel.
Hmmm

Re: Scream 4 -----> 10/4/2011

Definitely a week 1 purchase for me! Didn't surpass the original but I enjoyed the film a lot better than any of the other sequels.

Odd that on multiple websites they have a featurette, alternate opening/ending, deleted scenes and gag reel but no mention of the commentary Wes Craven recorded on May 31st. He posted on his verified twitter account that he was recording a commentary with himself, emma roberts and Neve Campbell... I hope that makes it on the disc...

Re: Scream 4 -----> 10/4/2011

Yeah, I can confirm that the press release I got from Anchor Bay did not mention a commentary, though it did say "Note: Special features are subject to change." and there is time that they could record one. If it doesn't happen, it would be disappointing.

I hate that cover... I know it matches with the covers of the other films but I really dislike that cover. Especially that "BD + DVD + Digital Copy" header.

I didn't hate the movie but there was just something that didn't make it really feel like the other films, I'll still buy it though!

I dislike the cover because I never liked the "knife mask" design and the faces at the bottom are lazily Photoshopped in.

Re: Scream 4 -----> 10/4/2011

I guess Craven and Emma Roberts both Tweeted that they laid down a commentary with Panetierre and Campbell: http://scream-trilogy.net/2011/06/la...4-dvd-updates/

So if that doesn't turn out to be on there, I might guess AB's going to double-dip this one.

Well that's good news if it's on there which I'm guessing it will. The press release did say features were subject to change and they probably didn't know when it was released if a commentary could be put together or not.

Missed this in theaters -- looking forward to watching it on BD. Hopefully the commentary gets included in the initial release.

The ad says "artwork subject to change" so I assume it's just a placeholder.

The Mexican BD is cropped from 2.40:1 to 1.78:1. The bare bones UK release that's also out at least maintains the OAR.

Why would they crop a brand new release? Very weird. I'll wait for the US release anyway.

The Canadians did that to Outlander when they first released it on BD.

My question is why do other countries get our films on DVD/BD before we do?? This has always driven me nuts!

The Weinsteins don't own the rights to the film in other countries. Simple as that.
