Star Wars Clone Wars: Season 3 (October 18)

Love this show. Much of what I saw of Season 3 wasn't very good though. Way too much political nonsense without much action. A few of the episodes were also supposed to be happening concurrently with things that had happened in previous seasons, so I'm not sure if that means that these were old scripts that weren't used or if these were episodes that just weren't aired in the order they were intended (possibly because they weren't up to the quality of the episodes in the other seasons). My thoughts are that they held some episodes back to use later and then aired them in season 3.

From the previews I've seen, they may know that season 3 wasn't up to par because season 4 looks to be non-stop action. The preview I saw was awesome and full of very elaborate full-scale battles.

I'll buy it anyway because we've really, really enjoyed this series but season 3 was pretty weak IMO.

Have they said how many seasons the clone wars would go up to?

I stopped watching in season 3, even though there were some good moments. Someone in the TV forum called it "intergalactic C-SPAN"

You probably stopped watching around the halfway point, which would have been a big mistake on your part. The second half was amazing.

Good to hear it got better. I lost interest too (but didn't care because I knew I'd catch up when the Blu-ray came out).

It looks like the entire season is going to be aired on July 4th on the Cartoon Network. Too bad we don't get it in HD here.

The

At last year's SW Celebration Lucas said they were currently writing season 5 episodes. So we know 2 more years at least.

Are they going to be any extended shows like they did for S1, wished they would do that again.

I thought season three was incredibly boring for a long stretch, and then the action started getting ramped up for the last 7 or 8 episodes which saved the season. My recommendation is to just watch the later episodes, there truly are some bad clunkers during season three.

Way to cheap out on the packaging, Warner Brothers...

Where is my book-style packaging? Season 3 now sticks out like a sore thumb compared with Seasons 1 and 2.

When the show first started they thought the allowed run time would be a bit longer than it turned out to be so some of the episodes had to be slightly trimmed down which is why the first season has some directors cuts. With that said, the second episode of Season 3 is actually extended by a few seconds as Cartoon Network made them remove

I am super PISSED about the packaging!! Seasons One and Two are packaged in these beautiful foil digibooks and now season three is in a standard blu-ray case. It looks like ass on my shelf next to the other two. And, the retail price is the same for season three as the other two with the much better packaging? Seriously, WTF?!!!

I have to admit that was my first reaction when I picked up the set at BB yesterday.

No more book material? I mean it'll fit in on the shelf of all my Star Wars DVD/BR stuff easily but I got used to it looking a certain way.

Re: Star Wars Clone Wars: Season 3 (October 18)

When this was first announced, the press release said that it would be released in DigiBook packaging as well as the packaging that seems to be the only one available. I guess they changed their minds? Or maybe it's just much, much harder to find, since stores don't want the big packaging?

The only sort of good news about this, is that Warner had the sense to re-release seasons 1 and 2 in standard packaging, so if you haven't bought them yet, they'll match your copy of S3.

And then, just when you think standard packaging is back...they'll make a Digibook for S4.

That's my feeling as well. If they can put $19.99 discs in a DigiBook, they can certainly afford to put a $59+ season set in one.

This season was pretty lackluster for me anyway (Season 4 has been much better so far). With the regular packaging, it was even more difficult to shell out the cash.

I certainly hope the Digibook returns for Season 4.

I guess Warner re-released Season 1 and 2 in normal packaging as well. Shit, now I'll have mismatched sets. Wonderful.

wtf does this mean: "Exclusive to Blu-Ray for a Limited Time: Jedi Temple Archives." Are they getting rid of this feature on future pressings, or what?

Re: Star Wars Clone Wars: Season 3 (October 18)

Warner has been getting crafty on dropping certain things after the first pressing, mostly to entice buyers to pay full price soon after release. It would not surprise me to see a bonus feature dropped from future pressings.
