Muppets! - Take Manhattan/In Space - August 16th
Thought this deserved its own thread. Cheap price, I hope that won't be reflective of the quality.

It says they're coming from Sony. I know they used to have the rights, but I thought Disney had them now. Or do they just have the first two?
Anyway, the first one is the one I really want.

Re: Muppets! - Take Manhattan/In Space - August 16th
Muppets from Space was produced by Columbia before Disney bought The Muppets (Although Henson had a production deal with Disney in the 90's). Take Manhattan was a production that Tri-Star distributed, I guess Sony still has the rights to that one as well. (The Muppet Movie and Great Muppet Caper were Henson owned films, so Disney now has the rights) Even though Disney owns the Muppets now, any films made outside the Disney/Henson family remains with the studios that original produced them. Pretty much only Sony.

Were both of these crap? It's been a long time since I've seen these, and I seem to recall only the first two being good...but have no idea how many were actually made.

I'd say they're two of the worst. They're definitely my personal least favorite. I hope Disney follows suit and releases Muppet Movie, Christmas Carol and Treasure Island. The new one is coming from Disney right?

Saw Take Manhattan when it first came out and enjoyed it quite a bit, but the first Muppet Movie remains untouchable for quality in my book.
I've never seen the space one.

I like Muppets from Space. It's not the best in the series, but I enjoy it more than Christmas Carol or Treasure Island.
I've only seen part of the Wizard of Oz TV movie, and it seemed pretty terrible.

I love both of these and will definitely be getting them - Take Manhattan is a classic IMO and Muppets From Space is underrated.

I found that no reviews mentioned this, but the "Muppets From Space" Blu-ray does not port over the video commentary track from the DVD release (done in sillouette MST3K style), but the bonus DVD in the combo release is the same disc as the previous issue, and has the video commentary track.
