Great trailer. Makes me miss those days when TV wasn't full of shit.

Unfortunately all of the VCI Blu-rays have that identical banner - I wish all companies would go the Criterion route and just put a sticker on the outside packaging.

Wish I had waited and not bought the DVD what seems like just a few months ago.

Anyone else grossly miscalculate the speed at which niche titles would be getting decently priced Blu-ray editions? I had thought that I'd be buying mainly DVDs for at least another year or two, but I'm getting close to the point where I won't spend more than $3 for a DVD.

Hell, I'm at the point where I wouldn't buy a DVD for any price, select MoC and Second Run releases aside.

Same here, with the exception of a few titles that I know won't be hitting BD anytime, if ever. I really want to pick up that SE of The Gate that Lionsgate put out, but I know they'll announce a Blu the second I do.

If Shout put out any more Corman horror or sci-fi double-features I might be tempted, but Cliff already said they won't. I have everything I want anyway, and the rest I can watch easily enough.

It looked pretty good on Showtime HD. A little hokey, but the claymation monsters have their charm.

I can't quite go that far. Looking at my collection (lots of TV, Christmas titles, and low budget and/or older horror) , it wouldn't surprise me if 50% of it will never be out on BD. But a lot of it is vaguely possible I guess, so I am hesitating more on DVDs now.

Extras, from VCI's website:
Director & Writer Commentary, Daniel Griffith Documentary, Q&A with Larry Drake, Tonya Crowe & J. D. Feigelson, CBS Network World Premiere Promo, Rebroadcast Promo, Behind the Scenes Photo Gallery
So the documentary and Q & A are new. It's all-region too.

Re: Dark Night of the Scarecrow -- 10/11/11

I don't regret buying it on dvd because I truly did not think this was not going to happen on BD. That being said, I thought I got a great price on the dvd when I got it the first week, only to find it dropped to under 10 bucks just a couple of weeks after it was released.

Needless to say, I want the BD but I will likely wait until it hits the 10 buck or so range. I'm in no hurry.

I don't need to see any reviews to know that what I saw last night will be anything but rated a must have. They put a lot of care and effort into this TV movie and it shows.

Totally agreed. I watched this last night and, in addition to being a fantastic seasonal film, it looks spectacular. Even the booklet included was done with obvious care. I couldn't be more pleased, especially at only $15.

My copy will be here tomorrow and I can't wait to watch it. It has been a long time since I have seen this movie.

Great presentation, package everything. I really enjoyed the movie. However the blu did freeze up at the 1:25:39 mark for me and about 30 seconds after that were unwatchable. I set up a replacement with Amazon. Check your discs if you haven't watched them yet!

Mine played fine. I was very impressed with the transfer - here's hoping VCI put out Horror Hotel, Blood and Black Lace or Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things next.
