"United 93"--Greater Likelihood on Blu After Today?

I don't mean to be crass, but I hope after what happened today, among far more important things, of course, Paul Greengrass's "United 93" might be released as a commemorative Blu ray set--with all the features from the LE back in 2006.

This film has become one of my all time favorites. It's a testament to heroism even in the face of certain destruction. (I remember watching this in the theaters--you could hear a pin drop as the credits rolled.)

So, with today and this being the 10th anniversary of 9/11 what are the odds?

(I mean if "Short Circuit 2" can make it...)

I think if United 93 gets released on Blu-ray it will be without any kind of promotion. It'll just pop up on Amazon one day.

^^
If they do, I hope they'll include the trailers (mainly for the teaser).

The UK is getting it on September 19th, 2011 on BD.
Strange that they wouldn't want to have it released a week earlier....

I figured Universal would have released it this year in September, calling it the "10th Anniversary Edition" (much like the "60th Anniversary Edition" of Saving Private Ryan.)

It would be nice to see an update to the actor/victims' families documentary, given the progression of real-life events.

Maybe The Seige will come out on blu ray as well. Oh, wait, it is! I doubt Bin Laden being alive prevented United 93 from coming out on blu ray. So, odds are up to Universal and whenever they get around to it.

I get chills and get choked up just watching the trailers. The documentary of the actors visiting the families of the people they were portraying was heart wrenching. Not sure if I would own this movie because it's so tough to watch

That teaser is pretty bombastic to me, IMO. Without the loud crashing drums it would be better.

I haven't seen this film in several years, but I remember not being a great fan of it. Maybe I'll revisit it on Blu-Ray.

Re: "United 93"--Greater Likelihood on Blu After Today?

I saw it opening day in theaters. As someone who grew up in New York, I felt like complete shit for the following few hours and pretty much had to hide my tears (as did everyone else) on the way out of the theater.

I've only popped the DVD in once (I own the two-disc limited edition) and still then, couldn't handle the last fifteen minutes or so. Unlike Jim, I never made it to watching the documentaries that are on the disc. I'm assuming based upon Universal's past high-def releases that all of that bonus material will transfer over.

I own this on DVD, and I saw it in Theaters. Really well-done, but honestly, not something I've ever found myself rewatching. I'd probably pass on the BD at this point.

Re: "United 93"--Greater Likelihood on Blu After Today?

Remember how insanely quickly the 2-disc DVD went rare? I remember feeling lucky preordering the 2 disc.

It would be strange to call it '10th anniversary', since the movie itself was only 5 years ago.
the 'Tora Tora Tora' Blu-ray was called the '40th Anniversary', to commemorate the year the movie was made, not when the events occured.

Yup, I actually picked up the last copy at a Best Buy the evening of release.

... and to note, that "gimmick" has been done before.

Same reaction both times I've seen it.

This is a must-own, first day purchase for me on Blu.

What about 9/11 - The Filmmakers' Commemorative Edition on Blu-Ray? Any chance of releasing that one? I believe it was originally broadcast on CBS back in 2002?

Re: "United 93"--Greater Likelihood on Blu After Today?

I have the DVD so debating whether to go Blu. It's just a tough film to watch. But I feel it's important we do watch it. Eventual purchase with a price drop.
