How much does the blu-ray cost ? Also, you get it through their email ? That doesn't make much sense.

It's also "widescreen", if by that term you mean stretching out the original aspect ratio to make it fit.

Re: 1990 Captain America Director's Cut in May

For those of you still interested, here's the email I received in full (It's pretty long and horribly spaced, so I hid it inside spoiler tags):

Spoiler:
The CA: DC details are below. Sorry for the spacing problem. The content was created on an iPad while we travel .

Albert Pyun announces a CAPTAIN AMERICA: Director’s Cut
Region Free DVD as a bonus feature to his CAPTAIN AMERICA Commentary
(DVD) and autograph. Also included is Pyun’s
Film, LEFT FOR DEAD: Inferno Version,
(DVD). The extended director’s cut includes additional scenes, never
seen before – approximately 13 minutes more footage). The film is transferred
from telecined tapes, plus a 35mm work print. It was not transferred from the
original negative and there is artifacting in the dark scenes, dust specks and
visible splices. Only the new footage is true widescreen. However, the picture
quality is far superior to Albert Pyun’s previous director’s cuts.

This offering is suitable only for CAP/PYUN fans wanting
Albert’s extended directors cut with extended footage. If you are looking for
the best picture, MGM is releasing the theatrical version on DVD, starting July
19.

The Blu-Ray version (Blu-Ray disk only in the DVD case set)
of this offering has the remastered 5.1 score with new music by Tony Riparetti.

Orders after July 12 will be pre-orders
for mid-August shipping.

Three disk set DVD feature with commentary, DVD, Left for Dead.

COST To US

$25.00. - free shipping

To
Canada
$25.00 - free shipping

To
International destinations
$28.00 - free shipping

For Blu-Ray feature disk (instead of DVD), add $10.00 to the
above cost.

Purchasers of the
Set that includes the Blu-Ray disk will receive a hi res digital file for
Blu-Ray case art. DVD case art comes with the set.

We cannot accept returns except or defective disks.

Click on the link below to order and fill in the correct
amount for your destination. Include your name and address and the one line
personal message you want from Albert Pyun, or any instructions for your order.
You will find this on the ‘review’ page of your order.

Experience The Original Adventure
Captain America
Available on DVD for the First Time Ever

The Very First Avenger Makes His Long Awaited Debut On DVD on July 19th

LOS ANGELES (June 16, 2011) – Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment's "manufacturing on demand" ("MOD") program is excited to announce its newest addition, Captain America, available on DVD as part of MGM's Limited Edition Collection. Based on the bestselling Marvel Comics series, Captain America stars Matt Salinger (What Dreams May Come) as a crime-fighting superhero whose strengths and abilities may save the United States from nuclear destruction.

During World War II, a brave American soldier (Salinger) volunteers to undergo experiments to become a new super-soldier, codenamed "Captain America." Infiltrating Germany to sabotage Nazi rockets pointed at the U.S., Captain America faces off with Nazi superhuman warrior Red Skull (Scott Paulin, The Right Stuff) who defeats the hero, throwing him into suspended animation. Frozen for 50 years, Captain America is found and revived only to find that Red Skull has changed identities and has targeted the President of the United States (Ronny Cox, RoboCop) for assassination. With America on the verge of utter chaos, it is up to one man to save the day!

Captain America also features supporting performances from Ned Beatty (Superman), Darren McGavin (A Christmas Story), Michael Nouri (Flashdance) and Melinda Dillon (Close Encounters of the Third Kind) and Kim Gillingham ("One Big Family"). The DVD will be available for sale on online retailers everywhere.

Wow. I can't believe this is an MOD. With a big screen summer movie in the theaters I would think a press run on this stinker would be a no brainer. I'd might have actually bought this myself, though god knows why.

MGM certainly wouldn't have sprung for a Blu-ray release, and the studios don't release catalog titles on DVD anymore, so it was MOD or nothing.

Then they should have licensed it to Criterion. Rumor has it there's a director's cut.

Tough for Criterion to improve on that cover art though.

Forgive my ignorance, but how does one order a MGM MOD?

I can't figure it out either. Amazon has some, but is there a way to get directly from MGM or Fox?

Found the answer to my own questions here...

http://www.dvdtalk.com/features/mgms_limited_ed.html

And here...

http://www.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm?ID=15714

Appears the CAPTAIN AMERICA (1990) MOD has been delayed until August 9th.
