The radio spots for that movie scared the piss out of me as a kid. You would hear the guy ask, "Have you checked the children?" in his creepy way several times. I used to run from my room when that spot started and wait in the living room with my parents until enough time had passed that I could safely return to my room and back to the easy listening 70's sounds from my AM radio.

I still get chill bumps when I think of that radio spot. They scarred me the bastards.

That radio spot scared me too (mainly the announcer saying "When a STRANGER Calls!") Years later I finally saw the movie and aside from the opening it turned out to be incredibly boring.

These days, when a stranger calls I just tell them to f--- off!

I picked up When a Stranger Calls/Happy Birthday to Me. I'm trying to decide on a couple of others.

STRANGER / BIRTHDAY both look fabulous! Best $2.50 per title I've probably ever spent. LILLITH looks very good also, 3.5 /5. SHIP OF FOOLS was a decent transfer 3 / 5.

All of these discs double-feature Blus are BD-50s and the bitrates are very serviceable, average around 25 mbits. The encodes seem very high quality, with no DNR or EE obvious. Black levels are spot on, contrast isn't digitally-boosted, and the color schemes are not TEAL!! What's not to like.

My highest commendation. If we can get titles of this quality for $2.50 each, then there's proof positive that Twilight Time and Shout Factory are indeed gouging us by charging $30+ and > $20 for their catalog titles. Shout could be "excused", but even so, it seems excessive.
