It's not stupid considering that's the only reason most people have heard of the film.

I didn't say it was stupid....just that it sounds stupid. I understand why it's there..but it's really unnecessary...THOUGH....it will boost some sales I bet. Dunno how much...but I'm sure it'll impact it.

There is absolutely nothing in this movie that would merit more than an R rating. The "uncensored" publicity surrounding the movie has been blown way out of proportion to the reality of what's actually depicted on screen.

Agreed. I was confused when I saw it in the theater. I've seen much "harder" R movies than that in the recent past. I was explaining the film to someone who hadn't seen it and I realized that describing the scenes makes the original NC-17 seem even more ridiculous.

A good film, but one that I'll wait for a significant drop before purchasing.

But it's not even graphic. Any American Pie movie is considerably more explicit and obscene than anything you'll see here.

The whole controversy comes down to one scene with an implication (not shown in any detail) that Gosling is performing oral sex on Michelle Williams for about 5 seconds. That's it.

oh I know, my comment was more cynical and tongue in cheek - when the Weinsteins were part of Miramax they had a revolving door relationship with the MPAA over quite a few films that they had problems with.

It's far more realistic and intense than any of the goofy sex humor in American Pie.

The tone is different, yes. But it's no more explicit, and certainly should not merit an NC-17.

This is just yet another example of the MPAA's hypocrisy. You can show graphic, raunchy sex, and it's perfectly fine so long as you're supposed to laugh at it. But show the same thing (or less, in this case) in a serious context, and suddenly it's, "OH MY SWEET JESUS NO, PEOPLE CAN'T BE ALLOWED TO SEE THIS HORRIBLE OBSCENITY!!!!!"

Anyway, my point to this discussion is really just to warn that people planning to buy this "Uncut and Uncensored" movie hoping to get their rocks off with the mind-blowing hardcore sex scenes are going to be severely disappointed.
