Anyone having problems with their "Uncle Buck" BD?

Just bought it for $10 from Wal-Mart this weekend, popped it in today and at first my player wouldn't play it. Ejected it to try again and it played this time but I constantly had issues with the movie freezing up then picking up several seconds later plus another weird thing, the audio option only lists a DTS track but my receiver only showed up as Dolby Pro-Logic. I tried a few other BDs and they all played fine so I was wondering if I just got a bum disc or if others were having the same issues.

As usual, what player do you have? Since there are 100+ on the market, we need to know that before we can even begin.

And Uncle Buck only has DTS 2.0. Universal didn't include a lossless track.

Why the hell upgrade then? I can't imagine the visuals alone to be enough to get me to buy this again unless there are some spectacular special features.

That's a good question. The studios will see if people do with minimal effort done to catalog releases.

See if there is a Firmware update available. If not (i.e. your up-to-date), you'll need to buy a new player as it won't likely get fixed as it's not a major release.

I don't remember how I updated it once before (I had to to play "Terminator 2" BD) so if you could point me in the right direction I'd sure appreciate it.

BTW, I exchanged the "Uncle Buck" BD for another one and still have the same issues.

Is it hooked up to your home network (either by a cable or WiFi)?

If not, you'll have to download the newest firmware version, burn it on a disc, and put it in your player.

If you exchanged your disc, then it's a firmware issue.

Ok I found the firmware update page via Sony, DL'd it through home network and voila! The disc now plays just fine! Thanks for the replies!

Great! I wasn't sure if that would even work, but it looks like your player was probably 1.5-2 years out of date. You'll probably notice faster loading times now too.

Glad I could help! Enjoy (I've got this movie sitting next to my table to be watched for the first time in 15 years).
