Re: James Bond Update

Got a shipping notification from BB for the James Bond Exclusive's. I placed my order on Friday online and it shipped out by UPS today.

I still need the other 6 titles from Target & Walmart. Been checking a local Walmart a few miles from my home for a few weeks and nothing so far.

No release in sight. A good price would be the lowest you can find.

Re: James Bond Update

It appears the two BB's near me had pulled their floor stock when I stopped by today. Guess I'll check again tomorrow.

Re: James Bond Update

My BB's website showed the Bond exclusives were in stock and available to be picked up. When I got to the store they were nowhere to be found. Asked a blueshirt for help and showed him their website, and I asked if maybe they hadn't been put out yet. Their system showed they had six of each and he said the way their system works now, if they had them they'd be out. Eventually he called a manager, who found two of them under a counter somewhere. The third was, indeed, in back.

Of course they all rang up at $14.99 each, but they adjusted that down when I showed them their own website.

Re: James Bond Update

Comment: More than once of late when I have arrived at a local Best Buy they have not had "sales" item on the floor for sale and only when I use a showroom computer are they able to find stock in the back stock room, I advised the floor manager next time I would contact the local 'DA' about switch and bait sales.

I'm all for consumer advocacy, but threatening legal action because they had a stock item in the warehouse instead of on the floor?! Remind me to exercise the "We reserve the right to refuse service..." policy if you ever come into my store.

Wow. Just saw on eBay these are selling for a minimum of $100. Wish I had bought 6 of these when I had the chance.

If you wondered why the floor manager didn't say anything after you informed him of that, it's because he was using all his willpower to not laugh directly in your face.

My local Best Buy stores have been in front of the "DA" more than twice about advertising product and claiming it not in stock (aka: switch & bait) and lost in every case.
And if you use the "refuse service" policy you had better have you policy posted so that all customers can read on entering the store.

Woah. That's crazy. Hell, Costco had NSNA with the BD & DVD together for less than $10 bucks just several months ago. I would have bought some but figured this was a title that would always be in print. There has to be some serious overstock somewhere.

No, that is not "Bait & Switch".

Any time you offer an item for sale and then claim the item is not in stock (when if fact the item is in stock) is "Bait & Switch" unless the advertising for the item lists (or a correction listed/printed the next business day and also posted in store) the number of items for sale (as Best Buy and Target does on many items). Examples of disclaimers in recent weeks advertisements:
Bond disc's: Limit 5 of each title per customer. No dealers.
Secret of the Wings: Min. of 10 per store. While supplies last. Selection varies by location. No rainchecks. Offer valid 10/23/12–10/27/12. Good in U.S.A. only. Void where prohibited. See Customer Specialist for complete details. Not combinable with other offers. (Actual Bag Size: 12" x 12.75" x 8")

I'm not sure if you're joking or not. If so, that is funny. If not, that is funny.

It would not be funny that retailers have forced consumers into causing laws to be enacted for protection due to misleading retailer advertising.
When "Circuit City" was a local retailer they got their "Hands Slapped" almost monthly due to deceptive advertising.

AS for "Best Buy" they protected themselves with this disclaimer:
Secret of the Wings: Min. of 10 per store. While supplies last

If not for the consumer protection acts do you think that stores add such disclaimers, wait till the 'Black Friday' ads for all the different disclaimers, from limited time, to limited numbers.

Also the store I was at even had a "sold out" sign on the rack where the disc's should of been stocked, yet their own online inventory stated over twenty were in stock.

Re: James Bond Update

I had to have help finding them, but they were on an endcap near the Action DVDs for some reason. The exclusives are marked $14.99 but ring up at $9.99. They had maybe three of each title.

Re: James Bond Update

But you do know what a "bait and switch" is, right? Because what you described is far from that. And you'd have a better case if this was something common with every store (or most) in the country. I just stopped by 2 locations earlier and both had endcaps with several copies of the Bond movies. I'm assuming you're referring to the Bond titles since you're commenting on this thread.

The "Sold Out" sign... and they had over 10 of the "Bond 50" sets at list price around the single disc area.
And I was looking for a "Bond Movie" to give as a gift to a co-worker who did not purchase the "Bond 50".

I'm so grateful that you're fighting for our right to unilaterally remain in a private business establishment under any circumstances.
