Terrible cover for LHotL.

I don't care how Rules... looks, just glad it's the unrated cut.

Are you referencing the original I Spit as $9.99 or the remake or both?

It's the same cover for the DVD re-release that came out a couple years back. While not great, better than the original version which wasn't very good.

How is the PQ for Leaving Las Vegas and are there any extras at all?

Can't speak to the PQ yet but there's only the trailer. There also isn't a static main menu. It's like an old school Warner title. You pop in the disc and after the Fox Home Entertainment logo intro, the movie just starts. You have to use the pop-up menu button to get the menu for scene selection, audio/subtitles and the lone extra.

I dunno if anyone else was interested in it, but I picked up the blu-ray of Dolph Lundgren's The Killing Machine. The Blu-Ray drops the Dvd's sole extra, a 30 minute-ish making of featurette, and doesn't even have a menu. It just goes straight into the film and has no pop-up menu, as there is only one audio track and no other settings to change (it might have subtitles though, I forgot to check).

As for the film, it's not a bad little flick. Much better than some of Lundgren's other straight to video films.

Went to a second BB and they had the 2010 I Spit on Your Grave on the shelf, one copy, in the alphabetical aisle with a tag under it that stated "I Spit on Your Grave - 1977 $9.99". I brought it to the counter and the cashier had someone investigate. They didn't let me get it at that price, but the good news is it did force them to get the original movie out of the back so that I could buy that one instead, which is the way I would rather have it anyway.

Blu-ray.com review of The Manchurian Candidate - Seems worth the $9.99 price.

DC's Tenleytown's Best Buy can suck it, aside from Heavy Metal and Almost Famous they didn't have any of their exclusive titles when I went there this afternoon...

:mad2:

watched about an hour of it, (late late) last night and man, the HEAVY METAL transfer is hideous looking - alot of nicks and print imperfections litter the image. Very disappointing.

^ How's the audio side, Giles? If you're familiar with any of the previous DVD releases, any improvement over those at least (audio)?

Re: Definitive List of Store Exclusive Early Releases

I can't remark comment on the audio since I was watching this at 1am and I couldn't turn up to the volume I usually watch/listen blurays at - sorry. I'll give it another spin later on today and give so more detailed thoughts on the audio.

Re: Definitive List of Store Exclusive Early Releases

I picked up a slew of the Best Buy exclusive releases, but haven't touched a single one until now.

I put in the Still Waiting... disc. Yes, I've actually seen the film prior to purchasing and I find it to be a guilty pleasure in the realm of bad <s>it didn't test well, so we sent it right to DVD</s> sequels. What makes this Blu-ray really outstanding is that the disc was manufactured in 2009 and just didn't see a release until now.

Out of all of the films I own on Blu-ray that were shot using CineAlta cameras, this has a surprisingly lackluster transfer. However, I would blame that more on a low budget/inexperienced crew more than anything else.

[For comparison, both Avatar and Step Up 3 were shot using CineAlta cameras as apart of Cameron's Fusion system and both were some of the best looking discs of 2010.]

I also love how Waiting..., which had a smaller budget, has a better transfer and a 7.1 soundtrack (this only has 5.1).

Isn't that how it's always looked?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The disc is currently sitting on my coffee table, but I haven't touched it yet.

Just got done watching The Rules of Attraction. The transfer isn't as bad as Gizmo made it out to be. It could be better if Lionsgate spent the time and resources to clean up the print and maybe do a 2K or 4K restoration on it; but what we get is serviceable and its a definite upgrade from the DVD. It's not the greatest transfer due to its low budget source, but I've seen a lot worse come from Lionsgate and other studios.

I will say the compression blocking in a defect as it only happens that one time during the film, but we'll see if Lionsgate does a replacement program. [They should, but who knows.]

My local store didn't have any yesterday or today. I asked they showed me the remake and didn't understand what the hell I was talking about when I told them that wasn't it.
