Is Universal going to release this anytime soon?

It is a big movie and I remember it took a couple years after 2000 just to get released again on DVD in 2003.

i remember reading on the bluray.com forum a while ago that the
dutch release was suppose to be in march.
hopefully that date remains and indicates that other countries will
follow around that time!

Hopefully they release it with the original sound mix as the new one takes me out of the movie.

Other than Star Wars and Indiana Jones, this is one of my most anticipated Blu-ray releases. Just one of those films I can't picture my collection without. I really hope they get around to releasing this soon.

This wasn't an HD-DVD release was it? Universal seems to be fond of anniversary releases (Apollo 13 15th, Backdraft 20th, etc) so it's possible they could hold off till 2013.

I hope they do like the collector's edition DVD and include the Howard Hawkes original on a separate BD.

My first time seeing Scarface was on DVD w/ the new sound mix...it sounded odd for sure...but it looked great.

I think they're still in the process of rounding up more rappers to interview for their reflections on the film.

Considering this was THE first DVD title I ever bought, I am quite surprised it's not on blu-ray already.
If I could thumbs up posts on this forum, I would.

I've never heard the new mix. Is it that bad?

For me, it's the effects, like the gunfire that ruins it since I am so used to the original sounds. If it was a sound-level issue, that'd be ok but they changed the actual sounds in many instances, like when Tony shoots the silenced pistol or the scene in middle of the street.

yeah...it's the gunshots that ruin it heavily for me. That scene at the end..just...sounds off w/ the gun Tony has.

I believe this is the original audio mix for Scarface, I do hate those ricochet sounds though...that's something the last remastered DVD fixed. If you have the PLATINUM DVD edition....compare the gunshots to the one here and it's a huge difference. it's off. Now if they combined those gunshots from the original mix w/ some of the remastered audio of that PLATINUM edition. Can someone find a video of the shootout at the end w/ the new sounds? I couldn't' find it.
