Any news on Chinatown?

It makes pretty much no sense to me that this beloved film is not only not out on Blu-Ray yet, but also completely out of print. I saw on Digital Bits awhile ago that it was supposed to be released in 2010, but obviously nothing has come of that. So does anyone know what is going on with this release? Is there anything going on that might block the release? Thanks.

Forget it, TheDuke. It's Chinatown.

Paramount owns the rights and they have really slowed down on catalog releases. They're also supposedly in financial trouble, which is probably making them very selective right now.

Paramount has rights to release it. Good luck., they've pretty much given up on catalog for Blu-ray.

Well they could have at least kept the DVD in print. They released a special edition and then put it out of print a couple of months after. Cut the shit, Paramount.

So much of Paramount's catalog is currently out of print it isn't funny. Heck, even Titanic appears out of print in all DVD editions. It's getting to the point that I'm shocked they release anything at all.

Titanic is coming out in 3D one of these days, so making the current DVD OOP makes some sense.

No, that line has been a travesty. Between shitty encodes (Gladiator; American Beauty), Audio fuckups (Saving Private Ryan) and re-releases (Godfather I and II), they should just shitcan the whole line. It has such a bad stigma attached to it now.

I guess that rules out a 50th Anniversary Blu-ray of Breakfast at Tiffany's this year.

Whenever they get to it, I look forward to the godawful cover art.
