Re: MGM Catalog Releases (2011-2013)
Are they finally going to include the Dickies Killer Klowns music video on the Blu-ray? I'm still p'd off they didn't put it on the DVD set, and still hanging onto my VHS for that extra.

As for THE HOWLING, we looked at an existing HD master made by another rights holder and it was terrible--the color was all wrong. Fans would not have been happy. It is worth stating that this transfer retains the film's original colour-timing, just like the previous Special Edition DVD, and unlike all the home video versions that came before. |

So it would seem that Howling was at least being considered for release. . |
Re: MGM Catalog Releases (2011-2013)
thread for it is here, tho beyond what I posted there is really no discussion of MGMs plans or attitudes.

I wonder if this is the same old disc they had pressed and ready to go years ago.
Wait, this is MGM, of course it is. |

The new Spaceballs anniversary BD releases Tuesday. It's currently $14.99 on Bestbuy.com and should be carried in store. I might get it using a trade-in coupon.

Disappointing, but not really a surprise:

Edit: Looks like there is 1 new featurette “Force Yourself! Spaceballs and the Skroobing of Sci-Fi” is a new featurette prepared in 2012 with Mel Brooks on camera talking about different aspects of the movie. He explains why he wanted to do a sci-fi parody, why no action figures of characters from the film were ever available, how important having a love story was to him, how impressed he was by the cast he assembled, and how ballsy it was to ask George Lucas to have his ILM special effects house handle the effects for the film. Rudy DeLuca also pops in to make a comment or two. This 16 ¾-minute vignette is the disc’s only 1080p featurette. |

Pardon my relative ignorance about this particular title, but wouldn't the 'R-rated' cut be the theatrical cut- ie. the only cut they'd really be obligated to include?

Re: MGM Catalog Releases (2011-2013)
JEEPERS CREEPERS looks fantastic! The bitrate is excellent (40+ mbits/sec), the grain structure is totally intact. It appears to be a straight 1080p scan by MGM, left alone, and raw. It was a wonderful surprise, and I truly wish other studios would follow MGMs lead in catalog-releasing. No color revising, no DNR, very high bitrate, straight dope. Perfect bliss.
A steal for $7.99. Pick it up if you want to see how a catalog title should look. |
