Re: TRON: LEGACY DVD/Blu Combo Pack >> 04/2011 (?)

Is it too much to ask for a release with two Blu-ray discs, one with the original with all special features and one with the sequel with all special features, no DVDs, no 3D, and no more than $30?

Too much?

That's the cheapest option.

GizmoDVD, thanks for those links - I didn't see that the original was also being sold separately on Blu!

Nope and I think that's the way we're going to see it from now on; 4-Disc Combos at $30+. Is far better and more profiable to make a 4-Disc set than three seperate ones including a "3-D" only which is a small, small percentage out there.

What I'm trying to decide now is if I want to buy the four disc and the original Tron separately, that way I get DVD copies of both, or just buy the five disc and lose the DVD copy of Tron. Tough choice until we see what other retailers will be charging, coupons from Disney, etc.

Preordered:

5 Disc LE Set
5 Disc Reg Set
Tron (2 disc)
Tron Legacy (2 disc)

God only knows what kind of collectible packaging and goodies Target, Best Buy, Wal-mart and other retailers will have.

I want some badass lenticulars.

...Went ahead and picked up the Art Of Tron Legacy (HB) as well.

Well, that, and maybe the dvd of TRON will have extras that aren't on the blu-ray. That happens sometimes. The movie and some features will be on the blu-ray and the rest of the features are on the second disc. Hopefully that isn't the case here, as I really refuse to have anything to do with worthless 3D and digital copy nonsense.

I wish there was a simple box with these two (the Blu+DVD) of each movie at a better price than buying those separately. I'll definitely be waiting till the coupons and store specials start showing up.

Also have to wonder if all the old DVD special features will be carried over. If not, I might get one of the big sets to get the Blu of the original, and just rebuy the old DVD.

Yep. Already preordered.

Can't wait to see if any nice LE sets will come from Japan, Korea or Taiwan. Hopefully we get some really cool shit.

Also sideshow collectibles is working on a. 1:1 disc and 1/4 scale lighcycle.

Got the 5 disc set. No interest in the silly toy that glows (especially since the discs will likely be inside of it and I plan on selling all except the 3D BD and the BD of the Original).

I feel the same. I went with the 5-disc set, hoping I can sell the 3D and the DVD and recoup some of my expense.

Worst case scenario, I can keep the packaging for show and get the standard copies for dirt cheap after the DMR coupons.

It's too bad Disney doesn't do multiple coupons per titles like in the past. I loved walking away with all the combo packs for $5 and under on street date.

Ever thought that was the reason they don't do those coupons ever more?!

Does anyone actually use the coupons besides those who spend all their time on DVD and Blu-ray forums?

[The answer to that is no; especially that I have friends and family that have bought Disney Blu-rays before and didn't even know these coupons existed... even after mentioning them numerous times.]

lol, if you actually looked at the DMR fan page on facebook, you'd see that a lot of people use these coupons. And by the types of comments those people leave on that facebook page you can see that they certainly do not spend any time on DVD or Blu-ray forums.

I'm lucky that I'm good at my job. Almost every week I get a $25 give card for Amazon. This set is costing me $8. They also bought me Criterion's Blow Out and Fear and Loathing. Next week, I'll buy Taxi Driver and have money left over.

You should really ask your pimp for a bit more money. Your good, but if you work harder, you could get a $30 giftcard instead.
