After seeing the trailer for this, my enthusiasm waned considerably.
Though this does interest me because of the Grant Morrison commentary and featurette.

Loved the comics.
Trailer looks interesting. Might give it a rent first.

The cast list (of which, I'm sure, will provide ample opportunities to post certain pictures of one cast member):
http://www.comicbookresources.com/?p...ticle&id=30728
The celebrity-packed voice cast is headed by James Denton (Desperate Housewives) as Superman, Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) as Lois Lane, and Anthony LaPaglia (Without A Trace) as Lex Luthor. The stellar cast includes seven-time Emmy® Award winner Ed Asner (Up) as Perry White, Golden Globe® winner Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under) as Ma Kent, Matthew Gray Gubler (Criminal Minds) as Jimmy Olsen and Linda Cardellini (ER) as Nasty.

No sale. Unless Superman is voiced by Tim Daly, it's not worth it. The story looked interesting, but I'm sorry. It's not really Superman without Tim Daly.

While I haven't bought one of these DC movies since New Frontier, I've made sure to at least rent them all. They're never as good as I want them to be, but I could think of worse ways to spend 75 minutes. I think this one has pretty good potential.

They should have just put the Shazaam short on this dvd/blu-ray instead of making that previous dvd/blu-ray of all the short films together. DVds/blu-rays sell better when a short film is added. A whole compliation of short films on one dvd/blu-ray do not sell that well.

I'll probably be picking this up. I've enjoyed most of these for what they are so far although the first Superman one was sort of weak. Batman: Under the Red Hood is probably the best of the ones I've seen thus far. Can't wait til later in the year to get Batman: Year One.

Don't really know much about it but the synopsis from the product description at Amazon reads like this:
Sounds like it should be pretty good to me and the trailer looked alright.
I personally don't even find Daly's voice as Superman all that definitive to be honest. He's good but replaceable to me although that might be since I'm not a huge Superman fan to begin with so I don't care as much. Now Conroy as Batman is another story all together. Same with Hamill as Joker.

The story itself is set out of regular continuity, and Morrison blends a lot of different Superman styles and milieus into it. It has a very old-fashioned Golden-Age/Silver Age/Fleischer feel to it, but melded with Morrison's post-modern sensibilities. It's sort of like a 1940s Superman story set in the modern age, if that makes any sense.
Though how much of that will come through in the animated movie is yet to be seen. They could just run with the basic plotline and leave out all of the sentimentality and nostalgia -- which would, IMO, be a mistake.

I guess he's okay but to me it felt like all throughout Under the Red Hood that he was just trying his best at a Conroy impression. I still liked the movie because it was a good story and tried to not let the voices bug me too much but I'd take Conroy over him any day. Really don't care for the guy who played Joker in that movie though.

Can't believe I blanked that out! None the less even though I enjoy him as Bender and some other work I see he's done his Joker just didn't work for me.

So does that mean you skipped Justice League and Justice League Unlimited? Your loss, I guess.

The latest batch of animated films from DC Entertainment and Warner Premiere, including Superman/Batman: Apocalypse and Batman: Under the Red Hood, were accompanied by short films featuring several fan-favorite characters such as Green Arrow, Jonah Hex and The Spectre. Unfortunately, it appears this practice will not continue. "We probably won't be doing anymore of the DC Showcase type shorts. The early indication that the [Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam] compilation that we did didn't sell really well enough to just cycle anymore of them.
"There is going to be one more short featurette, the Catwoman short, that's going to be on the Batman: Year One film, but then beyond that I really don't know."
