Does Univeral imports have NTSC special features?

Someone from Denmark has offered me a trade for their Universal release of a new copy of Notting Hill for a US Big Daddy.

I know the blu is region free/not locked, but the special features are in SD. I have several imports that have NTSC special features, but don't have a Universal one to test.

Would Universal make all their imports region free and still have PAL special features?

The person who wants to do the trade doesn't know. He doesn't own the film, himself. He'd just be picking it up for me.

So, if he can't test it, I thought I'd post here to see what people have in the way of experience with Universal imports. Have you ever gotten a Universal import that has had special features in SD that didn't play in your region A player?

Thanks.

From what I've noticed, Universal's Blu-rays have all been region free and had their 480p extras encoded in either AVC or VC-1 eliminating the need between relying on MPEG-2 and determining if they encode NTSC or PAL. Therefore, all countries get the same disc (to a degree).

Can you post more when you get the BluRay? I love Notting Hill too and would like to hear more about the disc (and how to get one myself). Thanks!

I hear that the pq is 3.5-4 and aq what you would expect on romantic comedy.

It's being released in Australia and several countries in Europe. Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, France, and Italy. A few have already been released. I'm only getting the Denmark version because someone wanted to trade with me for a US exclusive-Big Daddy.

I'm told it's region free with NTSC special features and I have heard that it will get released in the UK in 2011. Of course, it could released in the US as well, but I wanted it now since it's 99% locked in that Universal will be releasing the same transfer and special features to everyone, so there's almost no chance of needing an upgrade.

You'd have to import it if you want it. I'd get it from Australia if I was importing it. The UK is easy to deal with and cheap for shipping, but the other European countries aren't nearly as easy and "cheap." Australia is going to be just what a US release would be $20 or actually just slightly over $19 (using today's currency calculator) plus shipping.
