I don't care if this piece of shit never sees the light of day, personally.
Though I'll admit I am surprised nothing has been announced yet. I'd say it's a lock for Oct.

I guess everybody was getting spoiled by DVD & BR coming out 3 months after theatrical release and a 6 month wait for a Non-Disney Christmas movie just seems odd now.

I hope that the new movie will never come out, but you know it will. But what real fans of the real Nightmare movies really want is a blu-ray box set of the original movies. I've watched the box set of all the movies on dvd and I'd love a blu-ray version.

I will say that the transfers on the old DVD box set releases are surprisingly sharp and have some solid audio. But that only makes me realize that a BD box set would make them look even better.

I have to say I don't really understand all the hatred for this movie. It wasn't perfect by any stretch but I guess I enjoyed it. Maybe its because I wasn't a big fan of the originals. To me when I got the original film on Blu-ray a few months back it seemed terribly dated and not scary in the least . I always enjoyed Freddy as a character but the movies just do nothing for me I guess.

You're kind of answering your own question. If Splice was just announced for 10/5, Nightmare is probably slated for later in October.

It's rumored for October 5th
Warner Home Video has announced DVD ($28.98) and Blu-ray/DVD Combo ($35.99) releases of A Nightmare on Elm Street for October 5th. As far as we know, the only extra material on the DVD release will be a Freddy Krueger Reborn featurette. The Blu-ray release will include that, along with a Maniacle Movie Mode, an Alternate Opening, an Alternate Ending, a Deleted Scene, and a digital copy of the film. We've attached the official package artwork for each of the releases below:

Well, thats it.Any chance of the sequels coming to blu ray is gone.It needed to happen now, to tie in with the blu release of the remake. Its really a crying shame too, because the next chance wont be till the remake sequel hits theatres in a couple years.I really wanted parts 2 and 3 so bad on blu.Paramount at least gave us the first 3 jasons, why cant Warner do the same ??? My part 1 blu ray is so lonely.

Don't be too upset yet, those could very well be quite substantial. If the Focus Points = 30+ minutes as usual and the MMM is at least the length of the film (Cop Out's is 3 hours!) I'd say that's a pretty good stash.

While I do agree that freddys dead sucks,I could never understand the hatred for part 2.Whats not to like??? It has some of the best kills in the series, plus its one of those so bad its good movies. On the other hand , freddys dead is just all around bad.

Part 2 was just too far away from the original story. Why did Freddy all of a sudden need someone to kill for him? He didn't seem to have any problems doing it in the first movie. Plus they brought him into the real world to wreak havoc which even Wes Craven himself said that was a horrible idea, that it made Freddy less scary and I agree. Plus lets not forget all the gay undertones, which in and of itself wasn't horrible it was just that there were so many of them and for no reason either. Plus the main character was nothing but a giant pussy. I mean Jesse screamed like a girl a few times in the movie.
