Red Dragon Blu-ray Announced Share

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced Red Dragon for release on Blu-ray on October 12. This crime thriller, directed by Brett Ratner and starring Anthony Hopkins, is the second adaptation of Thomas Harris's novel (the first one was Manhunter, only available as part of MGM's The Hannibal Lecter Collection). Red Dragon will be presented in a single-sided BD50 disc.
Special features include:
Feature commentary with director Brett Ratner and writer Ted Tally
Music score commentary with composer Danny Elfman
Lecter's FBI file and life history
Inside the Mind of a Serial Killer, hosted by John Douglas
Anthony Hopkins: Lecter and Me
The Making of Red Dragon
Additional scenes

As long as this is not scrubbed (it was prepared for BD 1.5 years ago - so we might be safe), I'll grab it cheap. I already have the Lecter Trilogy + the German Import of that other Hannibal films...might as well have all 5 on the same format.

I watched my 2-disc DVD recently and I was amazed at how this film hasn't held up well. Could the scenes where Norton talks to himself (i.e. the moronic audience) be any more annoying? Was Ratner worried I might have to think for myself? I'll pass unless it gets high marks and/or can be found for under $10.

I remember this being a pretty fun thriller, though it doesn't feel for a second like it's the same world as Silence of the Lambs. But looking at it on it's own as a new take on Lector it's not bad. Will probably pick it up.
