Re: Does your collection represent your taste?
My taste is odd, I love horror films however horror is only my 2nd highest count in my collection (Comedy is first) but I have such weird taste. I'd say the majority holders in my collection represent my taste pretty well.

I love SO many different types of movies that it looks like my taste is pretty scattered...so yeah, I guess it does represent me.

If you include both Blu-Ray and DVD, than a definite yes.
Blu-Ray by itself, it would probably be possible, but not quite as obvious...

LOL I would say that and Wrestling are what makes BR not a true representation of my tastes. I only own 1 XXX BR (Heaven) and I don't see that growing because sales are few and far between and the prices are $30 to $40 each and i had trouble paying $20 for them on DVD

With DVD's I bought everything with the intention of selling or trading what I didn't want. I kept way too much so I have a ton of crap that doesn't represent my tastes. With HD DVD and BR I was much more selective. My taste is really mainsteam anyway as you can see from my DVD afficianado list in my sig.

If you're speaking strictly of BD, then, as many have said, it's fairly representative of my tastes. If both DVD and BD, it probably better shows my tastes which I think are quite diverse. At over 900 titles, including TV shows, it's probably not as "pure" as it was when it was smaller. Overall, it closely represents my tastes even if some things I bought (mostly on Blu) were borderline purchases because I found them cheap; usually more mainstream films that I think are fairly enjoyable.
I can't help but notice that I have almost no mainstream comedies in my collection; I have plenty of TV shows that make me laugh but my movie comedy tastes are not the sorts of things that show up at the local theater. Well, Pixar is an exception I suppose. Of course, I'm as likely to tear up as laugh during one of their films. I guess I have a darker and drier sense of humor and as a result that will likely remain a weak point in my collection.

I like Comedy, Horror and Sci-Fi...so yeah. I really need to go through and sell some of them though. Too much crap.

I have about 600 or so movies on disc. I haven't counted in several years, but it's a mixture of HD-DVD, Blu-Ray and mostly DVD. I'm actually very proud of my collection, and have only ever sold a handful of movies. I have made a lot of semi-blind buys, and have regretted almost none. Blind buys are usually researched somewhat, and I try and stay away from shitty public domain releases. Sci-Fi and horror have a strong presence, especially classic/B-movie fare. I I also have a few dozen Criterion discs- quite a few are foriegn films. I have quite a few classics, some comedy, and some action. All in all, I have many old movies, and many new. Many obscure, and many mainstream. I think it's a fairly accurate reflection of my tastes in movies. I never buy things just because they're cheap, which is probably why I don't sell a lot. I buy what interests me only, and have gone many months without purchasing movies. I think just about anyone with any taste in movies could pick out something they enjoy in my collection. Unless you like Romantic Comedies, then you're shit out of luck.
