Anchorman "The Rich Mahogany Edition" (BB Exclusive) - August 31, 2010

Bestbuy.com - $24.99

Excellent news! Looks to be a 2 disc set. Disc 1 has the theatrical & unrated cut. Disc 2 has "Wake Up, Ron Burgundy".

Yes! Finally, the return of Wake Up, Ron Burgundy. I'll be buying that on day one.

But will it the the Best Buy-exclusive 3rd DVD disc called "Breaking News", with 30 more minutes of outtakes and more? I have this 3-disc edition, and it is indeed loaded.

Compared to the HD DVD, does the BD just include the "Wake Up"? There were just so many damn editions of this film.

How many editions were there? I thought it was the Rated, Unrated, and the Best Buy exclusive extra movie Wake Up Ron Burgundy. Either way, sounds like it should be another solid package. Just hope they do have all the extras and that extra disc included.

Probably those 3, I'm just confused which one is the most 'complete'. Did the HD DVD carry over any of the Best Buy exclusive stuff?

No, it was just an additional exclusive Best Buy disc as phraseturner mentioned called Breaking news that had about 30 minutes of material that wasn't on either DVD or the HD-DVD. Included 4 segments called Today's Headlines, Special Report, Commercial Break, and Ron Burgundy Exclusive.

Re: Anchorman "The Rich Mahogany Edition" (BB Exclusive) - August 31, 2010

The HD-DVD was a port of the Unrated single-disc DVD, but included theatrical trailers and television spots (which were missing from the DVD). It DID NOT include any of the bonus material from the Wake Up, Ron Burgundy disc.

As of now, the most complete set would be for those who own the Best Buy three-disc set which included the Unrated disc, the Wake Up Ron Burgundy disc and the exclusive Breaking News disc.

If you combine all of the deleted material implemented into the Unrated cut, the entire Wake Up, Ron Burgundy feature, and the deleted footage scattered across the three discs; one has over 180+ minutes of deleted footage alone.

EDIT: I own the three-disc Best Buy set AND the HD-DVD. Will I be buying the Blu-ray? Yes, because I am very important and own many leather bound books and that people know me.

In the Blu-ray Bargains section (in a thread no one really even looks at)? Yeah, not really.

I have been hoping that a blu-ray with all the bonus stuff would come out and I will gladly pick it up release date, hopefully BB has it on sale release week for around or under $20

Finally a decent release of the theatrical version- it was only out on standard DVD in foolscreen.

I actually don't know how much I like Anchorman but I enjoy Wake Up, Ron Burgundy. Will be getting this, for that and the inclusion of the TC. Hopefully, since the Breaking News disc was a BB Exclusive, this new BB Exclusive will have that content, since I pawned my Anchorman disc with the bonus disc still inside by accident.

Day One purchase. Time to hock my Wake Up Ron Burgandy disc.

In a perfect world this edition would actually be made of Rich Mahogany.

Next up: Anchorman: SEX PANTHER EDITION... made with bits of real panther and subsequently made illegal in nine countries.

This film grew on me. Wasn't a big fan at first, but on a second viewing, with all the exclusive BB content, I became a big fan. No need to see it in hi-def though.

Will Farrell has a great business sense, considering he "milks" his film outings, to the "enth" degree.

His business sense is our gain.

^I'm pretty positive Will doesn't have anything to do with the business side of double dips/re-releases etc. I'm definitely in for this one even though I had the dvd and hd dvd.

Probably just hold on to my HD DVD... recently saw it and the PQ was good enough.

Now that I know the Blu-Ray will include the surprisingly funny fake day-planner booklet, I really can sell my DVD!

I hope it does, I was so dumb when I bought the HD-DVD I sold my DVD copy of it and I totally forgot that I had the bonus disc inside the case of the DVD and ended up selling that along with the DVD. I should have kept that disc in the Wake Up... DVD since I never sold that, but it looks like I will be now! I'll be selling my HD-DVD too finally!
